: dads taco
stupidfast 10-31-2005, 12:58 PM i know this is a newb question, but im not getting enough feedback in the newb forum, so i figured id ask the yota forum. my dad finaly quit his shitty ass stressful job and quit drinking.. wow hes like a whole different person. now he wants to lift his 96 4x4 taco a bit. his stock susp is shot and so are his tires, so he figures he wants to do it all at once. nothing serious, the guys 50 years old. maybe like 2-2 1/2 inches. im thinking to aal to the old saggy weak pack in the back, and extended shackles. up front, thats what you need to tell me. were not lookin to spend big bucks. something simple, and no body lifts. and if you have parts we can use, sell them to us. tires even if you have them. thanks
Intrepidyota 10-31-2005, 01:03 PM If you are looking for cheap, I would say go for a revtek, toytec, or cornfed spacer in the front struts. I am in MA and have a pair of revtek spacers installed in a double cab springs with rough country struts, I will sell you for $175 and if you want them I have a pair of 3" extended rear shackles (1.5" lift) you can have for $40. Let me know if you are interested.

for tacoma info I'd suggest you goto ttora.com. search for lifts you'll get plenty of info. spacer lifts the cheapest, new coilovers up front cost ~600-900. need longer shocks in rear. AAL's will make rougher ride. Depends on how much he is willing to spend. the all-pro kit rides nice. know of several who have on their trucks.
I have a set of 5 32X11.50 BFG At/KO's mounted on eagle alloy 589 for sale but I'm in AZ.

sounds good to me. i am very interested in the rear shackles. ill pm you about thoes. but a spacer wont do me any good. his stock coils ride like shit. they are way worn out. we need to replace. either with better condition stock ones and spacers, or (prefebly) longer springs. and im thinking aal becasue i know it will stiffen up the ride, and my dads leafs are soft as hell, so it would be a good fix. so i need coils up front. anyone know what will work? got any good used ones? even if stock? thanks
NY_crawler 10-31-2005, 01:31 PM If I was going to lift an IFS truck, my first choice would be Total Chaos. They might be a bit out of your price range but I would atleast look at them. Also check out All-pro Offroad. They make suspension lifts for the taco.
Just my 2 cents.
stupidfast 10-31-2005, 01:35 PM im checking them out now. keep em commin
93chico4by 10-31-2005, 01:50 PM Camburg.com

Greg_Canada 10-31-2005, 04:02 PM Coil overs ride nice if that's what he's after.

If you cant find front coils or coilovers for a Taco, youre not looking hard enough. All pro has them, as well as a large handful of other companies. www.tacomaterritory.com has and entire page of sponsors who sell them and sometimes members get discounts. Donahoe, Camburg, and Total chaos are the companies Id look for. Fabtech makes mild lifts for tacos as well. As far as spring pads, some companies use them, some dont.
91sastoy 10-31-2005, 07:43 PM Ok here is what ive done to my 96 taco and couldnt be happier. Get rid of those crappy rear springs with are most likely sagging and replace with deaver 1.5 inch lift springs. They are like $350 but you will not regret it. They made my truck drive and handle 100% better. I also wanted a bit under 3 inches of lift so along with the deaver springs i went with revtek 1.5 inch shackes. You wont need to lengthen your break line but you will need to reroute your exaust a bit and get longer shocks, but they most likely need to be replaced anyhow.
For the the front, i went with OME 882 coils and bilstien shocks. These coils made my truck sit level with the lift in the rear. Keep in mind that if you have a 4 cylinder you may want to use OME 881 as they are softer. But with my v6 it sits level with the 882. The ride is much stiffer in the front now that i have the 882 but thats the way i like it. I currently run BFG MT 32x11.5 on 15x8 without rubbing. I doubt i could fit a larger tire.
You should be able to intall the lift yourself, its not to hard as long as you have a helper and a case of beer.
You can get all the parts you need from a place on grants pass, OR called wheelers off road. They are great to do business with.

ETN4runner 11-01-2005, 05:15 AM They are a little bit higher than the spacer lifts but old man emu has coils and leaf springs that will lift him up around that amount. Do a google search for them and you should find it pretty easy.

stupidfast 11-01-2005, 11:59 AM so for the front end, what do you all think of the OME 881 springs (220 lbs, lift 45mm(1 3/4in)) and a coil spacer(not sure of height)? will this ride be alright? its a 96 4cyl taco. should i be able to fit at least 31s?

31's will fit stock, assuming you get around 3" in the front you should be able to run 32's no problem.
