Anybody wheel/camp/tow with a 4x4 ford van? Looks very easy to convert, looking at the 90's body/frame style is similar to f350 etc...

Here is my Dads old 91 4x4 van.

This thing was sweet. Had a 460, D60's front and rear, 12000 lb winch, inside was gutted and there was a bed in the back and all kinds of room for shit. And it was fun as hell to drive. But them my parents moved to LA and he ended up selling it. I sure miss that thing!

Just saw a Pac Bell service van going down the road the other day. Don't recall if it was a ford, but had mild lift (looked like maybe couple inches), Rancho shocks, solid front axle. I was wondering if the guy took it wheeling when he wasn't using it for work. :)

I've ridden in a Ford and driven a Cheby conversion. As long as it is not extended, they do well...very little overhang, and the body is very stiff. Also don't need a spotter so much due to excellent forward visibility.

It's still a van though, with all the cramped engine compartment problems that go along with that. Location of the driver's seat with respect to transfer case makes for some interesting shift inkages if you don't want to stop and walk back there. The Cheby I drove liked to stick in 4WD as a result of long, complex, and sloppy shift linkage.
