Here's a 6 lug 14 bolt, I'm sure you could make one 5x5 1/2 as well.

Two people have done them in my club. I will be doing a set in about two weeks. pretty simple to do. I could do it for but I'm backed up. check with 66CJDEAN he could probable help you for a good price.

How would you change a 14-bolt rear FF to be a different lug pattern? What parts get modified?

You throw the hub on a brake lathe then turn a drum bit backwards and cut it to 4.175" so it'll fit inside the wheels, then you drill it to the lug pattern you want, press a rotor on the back and build a caliper bracket.

Thanks, Chris. I'm picking up a 14-bolt soon, but I've never seen one apart.

So, how would I know where to put the holes for the lugs, in the hub/rotor? (I'll do a disc conversion.) My nimrod guess is, lay the wheel on the hub and spray some spray paint through the holes, then drill. But that sounds really wrong. What's the right way?

Should I just have a machine shop do it?

The spraypaint idea sounds good. Try and drill the holes so they aren't in any of the 8 orriginal holes, but it's hard. These hubs have so much metal on them that it shouldnt matter. Oh yeah use good 1/2" studs too.

How about the diameter of the end of the axle drive flange and the hub section that it drives onto. Wont this diameter be too large to fit into the centre of the 5 on 5 1/2 wheel.

If the wheel dosent fit over the axle drive flange I would guess that you would also machine the outside of the the axle flang and hub to make it small enough to fit the wheel on to. I there enough meat to do this. ???

if you look closely at the pic above the hub body and axle shaft drive flange have both been turned down so they would fit through the center of the rim.

the studs cut the splines into the hub when you pound em thru?

Oops I forgot to mention the shaft. The flange on the end of the shaft is also machined to 4.175 and allen head bolts are used since they wont stick out past the flange

With a 5 lug pattern you will have to share one of the 8 on 6.5 holes, there is no way around it. You will have to weld one of the holes up then redrill it. With 6 on 5.5 you can miss all of the 8 lug holes. I would drill the other four holes first because once you weld that thing it gets hard, unless you can control the cooling.

anybody know anyone that has done this to a eaton. I dont really see what would be different though. Any one know anyone in the portland area that has done this?

 can't you just drill a 8 lug bolts pattern on the 5 x 5 1/2 rim insted of messing aroung with the hub?

The bolt circle is smaller, so you should be able to aviod the 8 lug holes. Even if you can't look at the above picture. He's actually got two holes right next to the old 8 lug hole. Doesn't look like it's a big deal at all.

Trust me one of the new holes will share space with an old hole.
