I have a 1998 cherokee with the 4.0.
When ever it sits for a little while, I have to turn it over for a second or two, stop then turn it over and it cranks up fine. Some times it attempts to crank on the first try but it will run rough and I usually turn it off.

What should I be looking for. I'm going to check the plugs and wires this weekend. Could it be a sensor?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Steve

my TJ did the same thing, new plugs did the trick for me, until about 2 weeks ago, when my starter sh*t the bed. yea. dont know where you live, but if its really really cold, i have used block heaters before, i have one on my CJ, another god sent product.

Good Luck

Do a PROPER fuel pressure test

I had that in mind. I know the fuel rail has the bleed valve, where can I get the tool to check it?

Thanks guys, I'll prolly change the plugs too.

Oh, and I don't really have to worry about the block heater, I live in South Carolina:D

Most hotrod/speed shops have a fairly cheap liquid filled guage that hooks right on to your blead valve. I just left it on so I know by looking that I have in my case 50 LBs pressure. If the pressure bleeds off as soon as you shut it off you may have a bad bypass regulator or an bad injector.

Thanks, I'll look into that.
