: Donations for Bob Roggy - Recovering from Theft
Lance 03-18-2002, 10:37 PM As most of you know, Bob Roggy's shop (Roggy Enterprises (http://www.roggyenterprises.com)) was broken into while we were all at CalROCS. Some of the things stolen were a stand up air compressor, many tools, a set of new 38 TSL/SX's on Champion beadlocks, bilstein shocks, etc. Bob estimates the total to be approximately $5,000 in losses. The bad news is that his insurance expired 3 days before the break in. For some reason, he did not get a renewal notice, and preoccupied with working with BigRich running CalROCS, he didn't realize it was overdue, and renew his insurance. I don't want to hear anything from anyone saying that he should have known to renew, blah blah blah blah. Fawk you. Bob is a GOOD GUY, and didn't deserve this. That's why Mike Shaffer and I are donating $1,000 of our prize winnings from the RRCA event to help Bob recover from this unfortunate incident.
I have taken the liberty to setup a donation pool via PayPal to help Bob recover from this. If you want to help, please do. If you don't, don't say anything, and don't help. I talked to Bob about this, and if the police actually recover his equipment, he will donate the donated money to Blue Ribbion to help keep our trails open.

:usa:
$25 bucks here. Pretty cheap way to get a real good warm fuzzy feeling!
Good Luck, Bob.
60seriesguy 03-19-2002, 06:02 PM Though I've never met Bob, and live on the opposite side of the country, I'm a big believer in good karma, and since I've been helped by complete strangers in the past, I figured I'd pitch in. Here's what I wrote with my donation:
"Bob, we've never met, but I feel for what happened with the shop and would like to
help in a small way. Since I'm currently in the middle of a job search, I can't send a lot, but
I'll pitch in, I figure every little bit will help. Besides, I owe Lance Clifford for all his
efforts with the Pirate list. Finally, I have an ulterior motive, I want to see you stay in
business and prosper so in the future I can take my Cruiser to your shop and get an exocage for
it. Good luck with everything, Bob, hope to meet you on the trail sometime"
If you think about the amount of money we spend on crap all the time (booze, fast food, useless sh*t), I can't think of a better way to spend some cash.
Tony Sobrito 03-19-2002, 06:17 PM $50 Done!
Big Rich 03-19-2002, 08:22 PM This is way cool of everyone. I for one will hand Bob personally what ever I can find left over when the dust settles.
Rich
CRAWLR 03-19-2002, 08:32 PM I've learned more than I could've imagined from this board which is why I was happy to donate to the red star fund. Likewise I've learned a ton from seeing the rigs that Bob has built and for that I sent him a little something to say thanks for the ideas and to let him know that the world is not completely full of assholes! With any luck the bastards will get nailed and we will be reading about a generous donation to Blue Ribbon Coalition.
KS Toy 03-19-2002, 08:53 PM Thanks for making the icon "clickable" I am sure Bob will have enough cash to buy some tools soon!:D
Bob,
Kicked a bit of cash your way. It's not much, but hopefully my little bit along with whatever else is collected will help. Only wish you were closer so I could throw some business your way too.
bigjeepinYJ 03-20-2002, 09:33 AM Bob,
Well I sent my $5. That is all I had left in my Pay Pal. I know what it is like to have something stloen. I built my first jeep this summer. I built it from the frame up. Just got me brand new Boggers and wheels on it. Needed a new carb so I took it to the shop to have it worked on. When I went to pick it up and they told me that someone already picked it up!!!! Man that was pretty funny since the dumbass handed me the key. Luckily his insurance covered my loss.
Good luck man you never know when you will need something from someone else.:usa:
500 HORS 03-20-2002, 11:16 AM check's in route!
Perhaps someone here on the board works or knows someone in the alarm business.
I think Bob will be investigating the feasability of upgrading his security - heck might be an opportunity for a trade....
Live Wire 03-20-2002, 06:14 PM I just did the PayPal. Glad to help out a fellow wheeler in need. Hope the bastards who ripped him off get caught.:mad3: :mad3:
Thanks Lance.
malkintent 03-20-2002, 06:41 PM that sucks, weasels abound.
hope this helps a little
yurtle 03-20-2002, 07:39 PM I can help with an alarm for the shop. If Bob needs something along that line, I'll round up the parts but might need a hand to get it installed. Already E-mailed Bob to see what he thinks.
Brian
Jimmy 03-20-2002, 08:53 PM I can help with the install, i install networks and telco stuff.. Alarms should not be an issue
The Rockslut 03-21-2002, 03:29 PM So what was the total damage?
Maybe a list would be helpful so that if you dont have $$$ to give you may be able to offer some help.
The list would be helpful also so that we can keep our eyes open for these products out on the market.
YellowSub1962 03-21-2002, 09:50 PM Just emptied my bank account into my paypal account....as soon as it posts Bob, You'll get my $28.46....
Hope it helps,
PSD

Good luck, I hope you stuff is found and we can all donate this to Blue Ribbon and drink a few beers, toasting to the arrest of the soul-less bastards that did this!
Thanks for the donations guys, I really appreciate the help, this whole deal has really took the wind out of my sails, I've finally had a few days back in the shop and have had a chance to inventory everything. Here's a list of what i've found missing to date:
>Mac 60 gal. air compressor (upright)
>4 Alcoa 15x12 5on5 1/2 wheels with Champion Beadlocks
>4 38.5x15x15 tsl sx Swamper tires (new)
>6 Bilstein shocks 12" travel 5100 series pn# be5-6249 (new)
> Snap on 3/8 impact
> Snap on 3/8 impact sockets deep metric
> IR 1/2" impact
> IR 3/4" impact
> Dyneer 6" da sander
I estimate my total losses to be around $4500, whoever did this could have really cleaned me out, I'm grateful they didn't touch the high dollar stuff like the welders, bender, parts, etc.
So far you guys have donated about $600 and a special thanks to Brutus for the compressor
