I paid 2,000 for my donor. Pretty much the same exact truck you described but mine had 280k and was hit in the right front corner. It had a leaky radiator from hitting the fan, but it still ran/drove.

BTW that truck should have an A518 automatic overdrive, not a 727.

Couldn't give mine away, unless they are built stout (2500.00 +) they aren't worth a shit!

ummmm no fuel plate on a Bosch VE pump. the 93 and older engines have the VE rotary, not the P7100 inline like the 94-98.5 trucks.

They are easy to turn up though, you can turn quite a bit of power and not have to buy much at all.

www.dodgeram.org then goto the diesel section, then uder 1st generation click on "more power"

Get on TDR and DTR as well and read up. First thing first get a pyro on that thing so you don't melt it down when you play with the settings!

Mine sings along much nicer now and pushing 24lbs of boost with minor adjustments using a couple of wrenches and a screwdriver... no aftermarket parts needed.

BTW what are you doing with the rest of the truck? Is it a club cab?

It's a reg cab w/ power windows, locks, ect. The rest is for sale.I have a guy that may want it but if not I'll want to sell it. How much power can you get reasonably? Can a 7100 pump be swapped over? Thanks

no reason to goto the P7100 really. There are some guys on TDR that have found the secrets to getting power out of the VE. Several guys over 600hp at the rear wheels with the VE pump now on there.

Throw in a 3200 rpm governor spring kit
Old Smokey fuel pin
Turn up the full fuel screw
Adjust the high speed screw
Remove some material from a linkage in the govenor assembly
Put in POD injectors
Swap in a 16cm turbo housing (high HP guys are running twins)

You don't have to do all those mods though. A set of PODs, some AFC adjustments, full fuel screw adjustments, a 16cm housing and you will be over 300hp at the rear wheels easy enough.

I could use some body parts if they are in good shape. Need a good drivers door and a passengers side power window regulator.
What gear ratio is in the axles? Might have some interest there to. PM me if you need to sell it.

I just got the truck picked up.It has something that is bothering me a little. It only does it at certain times but it will sputter under full throttle.Seems it's not getting enough fuel but I don't know enough about them to know for sure.Any ideas?

Do the easy stuff first, change the fuel filter.

The mechanical lift pump down on the drivers side of the block below the fuel filter could be getting weak as well. It looks just like a mech fuel pump you are used to seing on your chevy engines.

You should have around 7psi at idle and around 4 at WOT.
To test it you need to get a tapped banjo bolt to put a guage on it. Got mine from genosgarage.com They are the same for all 12V trucks. Order one and some new washers.

New fuel pumps are available from cummins for around $75

I must have run it out of fuel last night or the pump went totally.I'm going to have to get some help with it because I'm not at all up on the mechanical end of CTD's.I know a little about chips and the like.I need to find someone near by to help me it.

gonna have to bleed the air now. Have fun :)

Running a diesel out of fuel sucks.
