i WOULD LIKE TO GO FROM A MANUEL TRANSMISSION TO AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY MODIFICATIONS THAT I WOULD NEED TO MAKE, SUCH AS A DIFFERENT BELL HOUSING OUT PUT SHAFT HOUSING LENGTH OF DRIVE SHAFTS AND SO ON?
THIS IS ON A 1991 ISUZU P/U 4X4-5 SPEED TRANY WITH A 3.1 LITER V-6 ENGINE. EVERY THING IS STOCK.

It is possible, but it probably is not worth it.

Since it is really hard to swap the bellhousing from the 5-speed, as it is integral with the case, you are probably stuck with purchasing a whole used auto tranny. You will need the flex plate/converter too and I think there is a kickdown linkage too. As for driveshaft lengths, yes, they will be different. You will either need the driveshafts from the donor rig or you will have to have yours modified. You will probably have to also move the tranny crossmember, as I think they are in different places.

Then you need to plumb a cooler too.

Lots of work for not much gain.

Good Luck,
Michael

If you are using a 4l30e they are computer controlled so that would need a new wiring harness
