I came across that one on my Fj40 search, it was used as a transport vehicle at a river camp or something. Might have been on e-bay.

looks nice, yes the red wheels were :rainbow:

Yea...those wheels needed a change.

It was on ebay, until the owner canned the auction (he didnt have his paperwork together), and we made a deal afterwards. I dragged it down from Winnipeg to Minneapolis.

I'm still trying to figure out what those Canadians did to the wiring....its an electrical basket case.

I'll make a trail rig out of it yet!

:D

My 67 was also an electrical nightmare:eek: I put in a harness from Centech, I highly recomend it:D I am a self admitted electrical moron, and I had no probs with the install;)

Yo Dog,

How long did it taketo do that harness? I have seen "painless" kits for the 40 as well as the kit you used.

I like the placement and size of those mirrors. How do they work? Do you know what kind they are? The PO of mine screwed ford mirrors into the door. One has rusted off at the pivot and the other is so loose I can't see a thing out of it. I need a change.

oh yeah, nice rig. Surprised there are not a bunch of holes visible. During my time in MN, every old vehicle I looked at was basically a frame with flapping sheet metal in a desperate struggle to hold on by that last thread. Must not use as much salt up there in Canada, heh.

It took me a few days, mostly because I had no idea what I was doing, and I was really thinking out the routing of the wires:)

I'm very happy with the Centech kit, and thier customer service is top notch;)

how much was the Centech kit, and where did you get it? I have the painless (not installed yet), but my bro's 71 has a rats nest for wiring. Just wondering if the Centech is a little cheaper. Also are the wires colored and labeled like the painless?

TRW,

I dont know who makes those mirrors, the pics that I posted were taken before I dragged it down from Canada. I'll run outside, and see if I can see any type of markings on them. They are in sort of a bad spot....the windshield post blocks part of the vision path to the mirror. But they cool.

I got lucky on this one.,....the passenger floor area is solid, the firewall is solid, and the back floor area is solid....I think there is a bit of bondo up the sides, and I can stand on the running boards (I weigh 230 lbs) to get in the rig.

There is no way this will become a winter truck....Minnesota winters kill, and rust never sleeps.

I think it was around 250, I think. Got it directly from Centech www.centechwire.com All the wires are colored and labled every few inches, also the wires are LONG so you can route them just about any way you can imagine;) The kit I got was for FJ40 to GM, I also got an ididit steering column that had the GM plug, so all my signal, horn, ect just plugged in :D

Did you have any problems bringing it into the states? Customs, emmisions.. you know the good stuff. I have a friend in Vancouver who has an FJ40 I would like to negotiate him out of.

No problems at all....

You need a bill of sale, insurance/registration from Canada, and a letter stating origin of the vehicle.

I got mine in tax free (including 2 cases of Molson Canadian EH!)
