Getting ready to make the cross member for the CJ-7.
I have a few ideas runnin around in my head.
Any one have pictures of their crossmembers to maybe help me refine my ideas and make a desision.
I'm going to be mounting the rear lower control arms to the cross member for my.
Lets see some pics of what you guys did to secure the tranny and cross member to the frame.

This is on a YJ frame, but same idea applies. Obviously I don't have the skid plate mounted on it, but I'm sure you can figure out where that goes :D My goal was not only for strength and clearance but also to be able to pull the t-case without having to drop the cross member and somehow support the tranny. Also wanted the removable skid plate for access to the t-case while installed.

That's nice! I'm glad you posted that before I dug up pics of the POS I made.

That is fabulous hahaha
That is the idea I kinda had in my head.
The transmission mount was the grey area I had in my mind
I was thinking of either using spring bushings as shown or a standard tranny mount bushing.

Got a pic of how the tcase is secured to that cross member?
This is the place I really need ideas.
I want to make the mount as short as possible to try to keep the crossmember from hanging down too low.

well i didn't build mine beefy enough to mount control arms to but the general idea should help you. i took a piece of 2x1 1/2 sqaure .120 stock and welded some 1.5 inch tubing to the ends to accept leaf spring bushings. now the tranny bolts directly to the crossmember and then the crossmember bolts to some angle iron brackets on the frame rails. so instead of haveing the rubber under the tranny its at the edges of the crossmember so there can still be movement but no waste of space tranny mount.. hmmmm now that i think about iit i guess my way wont work for you cause the crossmember would move and let your axle links move. you could always make 2 of them. one for tranny one for links. i can take pics if needed
