: New Tow Rig...
Bob Williams 11-03-2005, 08:11 PM '06 3500, 4Dr, SLT, Cummins 6Spd., SRW axle (oh yeah, it's 4WD of course). Traded the F-350 auto 7.3.
So far (700 miles) I'm lovin' it - talk about torque and the ability to pull a load! Anything in particular I should do or look out for?
Kyron 11-03-2005, 09:37 PM Sooo............. how much??? :grinpimp:
shopteach 11-04-2005, 07:33 AM is it the mega cab? why or why not? sounds sweet
BudTX 11-04-2005, 01:20 PM Yeah, you need to look out for those pesky Duramaxes pulling a heavier load and blowing your doors off! :flipoff2:
Only kidding. That sounds like a nice ride.
n9emz 11-04-2005, 02:32 PM You're on my hate list.:flipoff2:

... And then breaking down on the side of the road :flipoff2:
Sounds like a nice truck. I know I'm lovin' mine!
Congrats, picked up mine 2 weeks ago. Big ass truck, but doesnt really drive like a big ass truck. This sounds really dumb, but how does your hood fit. On mine the body lines dont seem to match up real well, but its the same on driver and passenger sides.

1967K10 11-04-2005, 04:52 PM I went and drove 2 06' CTD's 2 days ago.1 auto:barf: and 1 6spd. I was considering trading for a CTD sometime but after driving them I'll keep my D-Max.If they still had the nv5600 I'd like they better, that getrag is hard to find gears on.Don't get me wrong they run great and I'm sure they pull awsome but there's nothing like a D-Max.
I really love the auto in mine, but I dont like driving stick in a street truck. I know its better for towing and whatnot, but the tow-mode in the dodge works really well.

nv5600 isnt easy to find gears on either when new.. just gotta push through that part, and I bet you'd be happy with the truck. Once the tranny is broken in, its a piece of cake to shift.

BTW, congrats on the new truck Bob.
1967K10 11-04-2005, 09:06 PM How do you Dodge guys like your interior? I didn't like the cloth at all,if I ever got one it's have to have leather.I still think my 01' D-Max will hold an 06' CTD.Admittedly it has a couple small mod's and is about to get some go fast parts.:cool2: .

As long as you get the better quality seat, it is comfortable. I have test drove a few 05s and liked them, but my 98 has more power as it sits.
I can't believe how light the clutch is on the new ones. It feels like a Honda :flipoff2: I also dislike that Dodge doesn't offer 3.55 gears...the 4.10s are way too steep on the highway.
The rest of the interior is okay. Not great, but okay. None of the big three interiors are great. Chevy's looks the nicest, but is the worst to take apart and put back together. At least the Ford and Dodge go back together correctly.
I initially disliked the way the interior looked, with the wood grain shit, but I decided to go with it and get some aluminum overlays, but its starting to grow on me so I will leave it for now. The seats definitely need to break in, but my dakota was the same way for the first 10k miles. I commuted in my truck today (usually take the car) and the gears are a little tall, but it didnt bother me all that much. Also, I was stoked to see diesel for $2.79 today.

CanuckJeeper 11-06-2005, 08:16 AM Diesel's been at 2.35 here in Columbia SC for about a week.

You suck :flipoff2: It's still $2.79-$3.15 here.
Bob Williams 11-07-2005, 08:02 PM 1300 miles on the truck - gear box has loosened up, nice and smooth now, was stiff and slow. Mileage is about 13.4 pulling the trailer around - about what I was getting in the Ford, but I expect to get better as time passes.
My hood lines are fine, maybe you should go back to the dealer and have 'em take a look.
This truck is a lot tighter than the Ford ever was, even when new. Hope it stays that way.
Turning radius and parking lot manuvering is like night and day difference.
Back seat is smaller, no, I didn't get the mega-cab. Maybe next time, with DRW's!
So far, so good.
Oh, and I paid about $34,900 (can't remember exactly) but it was a nice discount, no negotiating - a family member works for Chrysler, so I get the special pricing. I'm sure anyone could get that price though, or close, you'd just have to press for it.
Still lovin' the torque this thing makes. Driving with the trailer is very easy.
obex26 11-08-2005, 11:42 AM Standard gears on all dodge cummins for 05 and 06 are 3.73; 4.10s are an option but also an overkill unless you are pulling a 15k lb trailer behind you 24/7. With the 3.73 once broken in you can expect to get about 20 21 highway with no load. I did a dealertrade from vegas to carson city 6 spd quad cab on the 35 gallon tank no load I left the front of my dealership and pulled into carson dodge with about 2 gallons left. When I started the trip the truck only had 14 miles on it and about 495 when I handed the keys to them. So I have to say even brand new not broken in they get decent milage. Of course I can't afford a new one so I settled for a 1500 with a 5.7
scoot 11-08-2005, 01:14 PM Iv heard of guys putting 35s on with 4.10s and getting like 5mpg plus over what they were getting
