This may or may not be relevant but there is a buggy currently in the works who's frame/cage pretty much everything but drivetrain and suspension weighs about 150 lbs. I'm guessing the whole thing will weigh about 1500 with sprung weight being less than 1000. I'm sure pictures will show up in a few months.

Won't having more unprung weight than sprung weight, result in weird handling, especially when bumping it over a big ledge, or up a steep climb??

Like, the axles can throw the vehicle around, like towing a trailer with a Jeep, hehehe.

I know it's too heavy, that's why I want to learn more about 150lb rock buggys I can carry home:D
actually I don't think it's gonna be too bad for my first try, but I'm definetely going lighter next time.

I'm shooting for 2500lbs with my Willys(if I ever get to start working on it  ). Just wondering if it is an attainable goal.

My old man and I built this thing a 15 years ago. It weighed 3000 lbs wet and fully ready to go. (Chains, straps, winch, camping gear, guns, jack, ect.) It was a blazer frame, v6, th350, 205, dana 44, and 12 bolt. Not exacly a rock buggy, but its an interesting pic anyway.:D

whitewater--- ya- the arca guys are seeing the 4wd hi clearance rock rails in the winning circle. I see the trend towards little 4 cylinders now. The sport sure is changing...actually, it's the event changing I guess.
