I recently found a couple of places that will give me the used oil for free. I just am a little apprehensive about starting the whole bio-diesel gig on my own with out talking to someone who does it or having seen it done. I searched and didn't see anything listed about folks who do this so I thought I would ask.
Any tips, pointers or mistakes to avoid would be greatly appreciated!!
I have a 2003 - 5.9 Cummins HO if that makes any difference.

There are many posts on this subject, plus I'm too lazy to post a link, but just do a search and you'll find quite a bit of reading on this very forum.
I just saw that you said you searched already?? There are several threads in this forum on that subject, just refine your parameters. here's one to start http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=396127

Sorry for the repost:beer:

I just bought the diesel secret stuff, should have a batch by next week.
I am going to run it in my 63 internationa tractor before the stroke or the cummins.

watch out they say diesl secret is crap and BS, for what its worth. I make my own. Best thing to do is buy a good book and/or take a class if someone local offers one. We teach one for free monthly here in Salt Lake City... The best book is the Maria Alovert one, www.utahbiodieselsupply.com carries them and the best site is biodieselcommunity.org with a "tutorial" of actual accurate info. there is a LOT of biodiesel BS out there for some reason. Not unified or a community like 4WD guys...

There is also a great user group on yahoo.

I have most of the equipment to do it, but I just haven't gotten to it. And I am not sure about commiting to pick up the oil.
