Probably a Mepco four wheel drive conversion. i dont think the factories made four wheel drives back then so a third party contractor did it, and mepco was the largest............look on the door next to the latching mechanism or in the glovebox, possibly on the tcase also................hope that helps

From the cab/grille I'd say the body is a '58. These would've had a Y-block V8 (272 or 292 usually) with a T-98A; although an OHV I-6 (ie. 177) was also available with a T89 three-speed and column shift. NO WAY that flathead six is original; it looks like a Chrysler to me. Also the axles and wheel pattern appear to be Power Wagon. Maybe Marmon-Harrington or Napco did the axles and tcase, but I seriously doubt that they'd have done that engine swap. My guess is that someone had a rusted and/or smashed Power Wagon, and a Ford with a worn-out engine, took two and made one.

I think that you mean NAPCO. Mepco is a shop in Utah.

If I remember all my extensive research through countless 4wd magazines the other compant that did Ford 4wd conversions was Marmon-Harrington.........
A guy I know on Vancouver Island (Paul Cooper) has one of those done out as a mud racer.....
