Anybody got any experience with ATS?

I recently installed one of their turbo setups on my 1992 F-250 with the old 7.3L IDI engine. I bought the system used and am having some trouble getting the exhaust up-pipe to seal into the turbo housing. I called ATS and got some really helpful advice. The dude on the phone was really patient and answered ALL of my questions, even though I purchased the system USED from a private owner, and not from ATS.

I was in Denver last weekend to watch the Broncos play the Eagles, and arrived on Friday. I was able to sneak away from the wife long enough to go drop in on the ATS shop in Arvada while she was shopping. They have the nicest, cleanest waiting area of ANY automotive shop I've ever been in. They've even got a huge bowl of purple M&M's (their company color is purple, I guess...) I was able to speak with their shop foreman while I was there and got some more great advice about my truck- with no regard to when or where I purchased their product. Their customer service lady (whose name escapes me...) was really nice- she just GAVE me a tshirt, a hat, and some badges for my truck when I told her that I had come from Albuquerque for the weekend and was just stopping by.

Most of you probably don't care, but I've been REALLY impressed with this company. They've got products for all the new diesels out there- from plug-n-play chips to hotrod transmissions. I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend them at all.

I am glad you had a good experience with ATS. I personally have no experience with them. But in talking with people who do have experience with them have said their trans reputation is either very good or very bad. I know they carry a line of Aurora turbos that will be a real good turbo once some bugs get worked out. I have heard both good and bad customer service stories about them. This input is largely based on Ford products.

My ATS trans blew up from poor QC. At the local ATS dealer, they have sold 8 trans setups. Know how many have come back with problems? Yup, 8.

They may have some cool stuff other than trannies, but their transmissions are sub-par, and there's much better options for the same $$.

I wasn't dealing with their trans setups, just the turbo for my old '92. Judging purely by their customer service, I'm sure they would handle any problems professionally tho. Bummer to hear about the problem with your trans though. Did you ever talk to ATS directly?

I'm not trying to start any kind of pissing match over who's the best diesel performance shop or anything...ATS is the ONLY place I've delt with in the one time I've done any upgrading to my truck. I also own a really old diesel, and can't make any judgements about the newer stuff. Sorry if I came off like they were the end all to diesel performance or anything. My reccomendation was based purley on MY OWN experience...

I talked with ATS and their customer service extensively, and they were the oens who called me a liar.

They were very nice to me as well, right up until I called and told them the trans failed.
