:jeep: So i decided to go with the 4 inch lift, and no dont tell me about the soa because i dont want to be changing them every year. But one dirty part about getting the lift is the ubolts still face into the ground. is there any setup out there where I can flip the plate up with new perches and where can I fix a strong shock mount up to? Any help would be appriciated

Give Dynatrak a call. I got a flyier around here for a u-bolt flip kit of their's....

Uses square u-bolts and some special brakets. Is supposed to include a weld on thingy for the shocks..

IIRC $100 or so an end.. not *bad*, but you could probably do it your self cheaper... depending on your fab skills...

Don't want to be changing them every year? Changing them what? Changing what? I didn't follow.

Even with SUA, you're still going to have to change your underwear once a year, and your oil twice...

He must be referring to axle wrap, meaning changing the springs, or maybe U-joints. But those only apply if you don't set it up RIGHT!

Or if you have a habit of thrashing on it.

Anti-wrap bars would help my springs last a little longer.. then again, leaving it on the trailer would help even more.. :D

I was talking about spring sagg. My buddy has a 79 that's soa and his springs are sagging after a year. I do bash the hell out of it but if I put traction bars I know they will get stuck on the rocks. Thanx 4 the info on the shock and ubolt relocation info:jeep:

Of course, a sagged SOA is still taller than a fresh 4" lift.

And my 4" lift never sagged.. it just squatted from day 1. :(

You can also go with NEW stock springs with an SOA...

BackCountryBinders and ScoutMadness both sell "recessed U-bolt plates" that don't flip the U-bolts, but they do move the nuts up away from the underside of the spring.

On my 4" lifted Scout I no longer worry about re-torquing my U-bolts periodically.. I figure since the U-bolt plate is bent all the way over the nuts and I can't get the wrench on 'em, the nuts can't come off, either..
