why are there not that many of these out there?

I was looking at them for a possible future tire, but thay have a thin sidewall and the tread it softer then I thought it was. And they are directional, not that that is a big deal to me. From what I have heard they don't last much longer then say Swampers.

For rockcrawling it is hard to make a tire "too soft". I like the tread pattern and would run them if they made 37s. :D Three ply sidewalls would be nice too. Basically I don't see a reason to run these instead of MT/Rs.

probably "None of the above"

I just don't think that they're as well known as other tire brands, at least for truck tires...

before I went to the 37 SSRs I had the 35 Yok MTs, and I loved them...handled dry and wet pavement, icy roads, snow, everything you could throw at them on road, and they did very well off road too...I would recommend them to anyone who's trail rig is also a DD...

they are very soft tho...don't expect much more than 25k miles or so out of them...

I think it is lack of people running them that keeps people away, people are sheep and if there buddy has BFG's they want BFG's. Also there sidewall is comparable to other radial MT's which keeps the more hardcore away. Finally I want 37's :D

That's about what swamper get right. So why those when you can get swampers that rule off-road? They would ride better on road though.

well, the local tire store, has them for arround $170 for the 315 75 16's, (35's) I'm now running 35x12.5 16 ssr's, and they go for $230, all 16's are supposto have a better sidewall, cause they are now a "truck" tire, don't really know if this is the case, but if I got the road hazard, it really wouldn't matter. sure I'd love to go to a 37x12.5 17, but they just won't fit without some major remodeling, which I just finished.

I mostly wheel moab and sand stone like that anyway and have never cut a sidewall, knock on wood.

I ran a set of 31's on my YJ, They are a great tire. I never had any problems with the side walls and east coast roots are terrible on side walls. I had 21K miles when i yanked them for swampers. I am getting much better wear out of my TSL's than i did out of the Yokos.

Personally i think they are a great dual purpose tire. EXCELLENT street manners & quiet. They do a great job in mud, not a swamper though. They are super sticky on rocks especially at 10 psi. The side walls made me nervous but i never popped one. They eat nails though, they are so soft they tend to chunk on any fender contact as well. Tend to run narrow too!
The just wear fast as fawk. Check summit racing for prices, i believe the 35x12.5x15 is $138. HTH Good luck

"Their tires are great."

I use the 285/75/16 Geolanders on my 4Runner. I like that they are softer and stickier then the BFG`s. And I have never had any problems with the sidewalls.
On my pickup I use BFG 33x12.5 and I find the rubber much harder.

I get more sideslip with the BFG`s then the Yokohama`s on wet or muddy surfaces.

PS Yokohama sponsors my race car. Excellent sponsors and support. If you are competing , give them a call and see if they can help out.

There will be one more set out there after today. I ordered a set of 35x12.5x15's from summitracing (138 each) and they are showing up today

They look like a hell of a tire and the only complaints I've heard is that they are too soft - which is a plus for me since my cj is rarely on the road and is extremely light so a pliable tire is a big plus.

A buddy of mine runs 35" Geolandars (GeolandAr is spelled with an 'A' on the sidewall, BTW) when he's not running hs 35/16 boggers.

I can't tell you how they do on anything other than mud (suck unless you really spin em) or dry, dusty trails. No rock in Memphis, really.

I ran 2 sets of them first the 285/75R16 and then 33/12.5R15 I loved these tires, i did not get a whole bunch of milage out of them probably 25K. They threw mud like it was their job. they worked good in snow and in northeastern conditions. I cut a sidewall wheeling on a creekbed, so it was probably the rocks that dug in. I bought both my sets from the tirerack and i just checked their price and they wanted $155 eachfor the 315's.

I don't drive mine much on the road, so the softness is only a plus for the terrain I drive, and if the guy down the road will put them on balance them and road hazard them for 170 per, thats only a $65 savings per over the ssr which nobody will throw a lifetime balance on, and only few will give me a road hazard, but they will rape me for it.

I've had 35x1250/15 Yoko Geo MTs on my YJ for over a year now and they're awesome. I've never had any sidewall problems personally, but the rocks are pretty scarce where I live. (Lotsa roots and shit though). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

I'd agree with what's been posted in this thread about the tire wear issue (they're soft as a baby's bottom) and I'd also agree that you have to spin them up pretty good to clean the lugs (compared to a swamper). They tend to plug in the gumbo unless you stand on it in a pretty high gear.

Best feature (IMHO) about this tire is the lateral stability. That groove down the center sure keeps the Jeep on the path of righteousness on those muddy side hills...

I can't speak for all of them, but mine were very well-balanced from the factory and I routinely ran the Jeep 70-80 MPH on the freeway without balancing htem and encountered only the beginnings of vibration. No flat spots either.

Great all around tire if you're gonna DD your Jeep (except for the treadwear issue) but I reckon there are probably better tires for straight rock crawling.

I'll buy them again if Yokohama comes out with a 36 or 37 with some bigger lugs and a little more void...

Yeah. My Jeep rides like a freakin' caddy on the road compared to any other SWB Jeep I've ridden in--even including stock TJs--and I have SUA.
