Im trying to figure out how I can re wire my jeeps dash when i build my new dash. There is just too much crap under there. All i want is a tach, speed, temp, oil, gas, and battery guage. I want to hook the head lights up to a new switch and have my kc lights switches the same as it. I want to keep the wiring for the heater also. The only wiring other than that would be for flush mount brake lights. Is there any way I could rip all that wire out and re wire it a lot more simple. Also, is there anywhere I can get a new box under the hood that I can make custom to get all the crap out of the way. My jeep is fuel injected and I would also like to make this better routed. Help me out!

Thanks

Scott

get a factory service manual and a new fuse panel and a shitload of wire. The factory manuals have the best wiring diagrams. They tell what every wire is, color and where it goes. I'm doing this to my TJ, too. It'll drive ya crazy...i have to do some and then leave it alone for a few days. I hate wiring, thats one reason i'm tryin to simplify it. The factory puts WAY to much crap on it that my buggy don't need.
good luck and have a big time:flipoff2:

While I'm not working on our boats' motors I am wiring them...wiring can get real monotinous(sp?) but you just got to stay focused on your goal (simplicity)...I dont see why you cant do it...like Cutter said get a factory service manual and go for it...another word of advice...make your own diagram before you start...it doesn't have to be detailed just what color of wire is going where and that way you dont get half way done and wonder if you have used brown or green or...you get the idea:D

Supergper has some good wisdom there! With a self made diagram, ya can trouble shoot it down the road. I'm going to do that too, thanks for the idea!

Unfortunately that tip was learned from experience:D...if you are having a problem with a certain item and you think it maybe eletrical related then all you have to do is follow the cetain color wire for that item...makes it TONS easier to find shorts and the such...:D:D:D

Just make sure you don't rip wires out wholesale and accidentally wreck something you may want to keep working.(Door pin switches/dome light comes to mind...)
