REAR??

You guys steered me in the right direction for the adapters to fit my Chevy front SS extended brake lines to the stock scoutII hardline, But I also have SS extended REAR brake lines and don't want to buy another. I've heard to "get some frome some (can't remember) ford.

Anyone know what size adapter to use for the rear? Or will it fit right in??

I used to have the Wagner part # memorized but it escapes me at the moment. Look up tsm1mt, he's got the number on his website somewhere iirc.

You don't need an adaptor. I got one a few years back, and it bolts right in, and is over 7" longer than stock, again iirc. Price is right too, mine cost about $25 I think.

Tom will probably pipe up, he always does on BB for this

Yep, so here's my advice. Click on the "www" on my little profile line.. then follow it to TechTips/FAQ and "Longer Brake Hoses"..

I used the E350 hose on "Tigger" and the Wagner part on "Little Devil".. the Wagner fit better and is longer.

Now.. I have a lower rad hose to go replace..

This sounds like the best one to me (even though i'd rather not buy a new line)

One more good tid bit was provided by Bryan Andersen. He used a Big-A part of WAG F98947. This should run $24.99, and is 22 9/16" long. It has the two 3/8"x24tpi fittings, and a 7/16" bolt hole. Bryan said this is a direct bolt on with no washers or silicone.

Part # Application Length Fitting (end 1) Fitting (end 2) Price
WAG F98947 Unknown 22 9/16" 3/8"x24tpi 3/8"x24tpi $24.99

The great part of this.. it's roughly 8" over stock. This is the line to use on a Spring over rear end, or if you have a lot of droop.

Tom, there was a lot of info I had trouble following, tell me if this is NOT the easiest choice for me. Also, does the info relate to my 14bolt FF rear?? I didn't see that info on the page (not surprisingly)

It's not the most straight-forward page I've done.. ;)

IF you were using a stock SII rear axle, SOA, the Wagner part is *THE* one to use.

However, I don't know how the 14b brakes are setup. You'll need to check and make sure it "T"s like the SII stuff does, and then check the fittings on the axle end.

My Travelall rear axle used the same the hardlines on the axle tube as the SII axles.. but I've never dealt with a 14b

The write-up does tell you what fittings you need on the upper end.

So if you have a "Chevy" extended brake line that you think is long enough, just find out what fitting is on the top end of the Chevy and adapt it to the Scout top end hard line.

Yeah I did see the fitting info for the scout end (3/8"x24tpi right?) and was gonna use that and the fitting info for the 14bolt to get an adapter, that was my original plan. Thanks for the info, at least I got to use some of it ;)

PS: what does the "tpi" stand for?? D.A.N:cow: edit:Oh............ Threads Per Inch.....right?

Q:
what's the bolt hole being referred to here? is that the hole that's used to bolt the "T" fitting to the axle??

I think so. It's a 7/16" axle-vent / bolt that secures the brass block to the housing.

Shees, I only wrote those 4 or 5 years ago y'know.. :D
