I posted in the isuzu forum and this because there noobish questions :shaking:
I'm going to be test driving a 1989 trooper II 4cyl for a winter vehicle and I was wondering:

What are the procedures to engage 4wheel drive?

Are these EFI or MPFI

What are troopers notrious for having problem wise, so I can check... I'm new to isuzu's I understand from reading other forums that their heads can crack but it can be prevented with simple matainence. Also adjusting the valves? well thats what i've heard so can someone confirm this.

TIA

What are the procedures to engage 4wheel drive? Shift lever into 4x4, drive. To get out of 4x4 put lever back into 2wd and back up a few feet (to unlock the hubs).

Are these EFI or MPFI Both

Yes you have to adjust the valves. Get a repair manual to figure out how.

They had heads that were prone to warpage also. I had an 88 and it was great for what it was. I wheeled it like nuts, looks tippy but I never had issues with it on any trail. Automatic hubs, yea make sure you reverse for about 20' or so when you shift back into 2wd. Fuel pump is in the tank style, issues with them, but not overly, if it goes bad you do have to drop the tank to get it out and there is a write up on running a ford EFI fuel pump as a spare, these mount on the frame and are inline pumps.
I got good mpg with mine, never under 19 mpg in town and got 28 on any long trip.
