its in a chevy/gmc frame, 2wd 8 lug, 60's vintage, its a front loader with a round diff cover. If its any help we also have a second axle identical to it out of a 52 dodge with a huge 6 lug pattern, I'm thinking maybe a military pattern. Thanks for any help.

EXTREMELY common axle, like the 14 bolt are,
can be coil or leaf type suspension on 3/4 ton and all 1 ton and up are leaf only, they are on ok axle but you have to watch seals and bearings, they like to go bye bye commonly on these axles, and then they will overheat and smoke and then poof, seen it happen a few times
3/4 ton HO52 5200lb
or 1 ton HO72 7200lb
ratios were 4.10 and 4.57 and there was a 5.13 but was only with R05 dual rear wheel conversion option in which was available for both 3/4 and 1 tons before `73(chassis cab and stakebeds)
both are identical they only differ in brake size
used 47-72 years only 3/4 and 1 ton
they are the only eaton 8 lug axles
H110 and up are 10 lug or big 5 lug and only on heavy C-30 and larger

I was just curiuos, what is the difference between the 52 and the 72? Is it the housing strength? I thought that the third member was interchangeable.

Subtract 2 inches from that and you'll be about right.
You're thinking of the H110.
