Hello to all,
I am selling my Rock Crawler project after making too little progress in the last couple of years, with the arrival of our three children, and most recently, a major accident on Oct. 29.
This genius blows through a new traffic signal in Carson City, running the red, plowing into the side of our Jeep Liberty with his Dodge Cummins at about 50mph (police est.), leaving me with several broken ribs and teeth, and a smashed left foot. The rest of my family fared a little better, but the prick didn't even come over to see if we were alright. Thanks pal. Happy Nevada Day to you too...
Sorry. Enough Venom...
The truck started life as a stock ScoutII, and has been much modified since I got my hands on it nearly four years ago. Here is what has been done so far:
9" Ford rear, 4.86 gears with mini spool, from '76 F150, Dana 44 Front from 78 Blazer. Have matching gears and set-up kit. Warn Premium hubs, converted to five lug. Need to get Dodge Five lug rotors so GM brakes will go on with no hassle, as they will provide the right offset. F150 rear leafs, Jeep/GM front leafs, reverse shackle nicely done, not a scab job. Tie-Rod and Drag link made from solid 1 1/4" bar stock, drilled and threaded RH/LH. Jeep Flat top knuckles with custom high steer arm and cone locks, done by Reno-Sparks Machine. Fabbed front bumper made from 2"x4" box tubing, tapered 2" at
the ends, provides ample surface area for a winch mounting plate.
No Top, Doors, or Tailgate. No Rear floor, No Stock dash, seats, A/C, or heater, and No front inner fenderwells, leaving me with rear quarter panel skins, outer front fender skins, and a fairly bare firewall. Then I cut the bottom 12 inches off the body skin, and narrowed the floor 6" each side, which I had planned to tie back into the tubular 45* angle rocksliders and
1/4" aluminum plate, not done yet. The roll cage and seatmounts haven't been done yet, either. Why? because my plans to buy my tubing bender were thwarted. Dammit...
Engine is completely rebuilt. Crank re-ground, rods re-sized, ARP rod bolts, Sealed Power HyperEutectic pistons, heads milled .060", block decked .020", Sealed Power Rings, 3 angle valve grind, port matching on intake side, extensive on exhaust side which includes removal of smog bumps. Isky 262 supercam and lifters. Triple chrome-plated valve covers and water tubes, square-bore four barrel intake. Comp Cams cro-moly push rods for Olds 455 were perfect length. CSI billet fuel pump block-off plate for big Chevy fits perfect. Flywheel has been ground, but I don't have a clutch yet, so the T-18/D20 is still on the floor. When I first did the spring-over and reverse-shackle, I trimmed the fenders enough to fit my 35" Dunlops at full-stuff. I quickly decided to sell the Dunlops and white spokes for something with a little more bling. It wasn't running at the time as engine parts still weren't done at the machine shop, so I Bought just one 37" MT/R and mounted it on a Chrome mod. (U.S. Wheel #97). Trimmed the fenders a little more, and then re-flanged the edges because I don't like the hacked look....
Stuff it needs to get it on the trail:
Clutch, 3 more 37" Goodyears and Wheels, tubing work, seats, fuel cell, re-wire front to rear. DriveShafts, electric fuel pump, and your choice of carb,(or Maybe Holley Commander 950 TBI)
$2800, or best reasonable offer. I'm easy to talk to...
