: wristed rear radius arms?

There have been a couple threads on this but very little good info. I'm looking to go with coils in the back of my EB and am considering mirroring the front wristed arm setup. Is there a good reason not to do this? Properly set up i've seen the wristed arms get TONS of flex up front, i don't see a reason why not to use it in the rear. If I did would i want the wristed arm on the opposite side of the front wristed arm? If it won't work i'll just go 4-link but i'd love to give this a shot if there's no good reason why not to.

Thanks,
Steve

It's a great setup. You're in Boulder, wander over to Longmont someday and check out Rockstomper's Toyota, Scott's running wristed radius arms front and back. He's got some good flex pics too.
I'd just make sure if you run that in the rear of a high HP rig to beef the hell out of all the mounting points.

scott's actually building me a cage as we speak. he and i were kicking suspension ideas around yesterday. I just wanted to post on here to see what people thought of that versus a 4-link.

Steve,on my previous bronco I used a risted radius arm on the front and thought it was one of the best mods. There was a funny handling trait, as you probably know.
When the brakes were used, the bronco would dive on the risted side and rise on the solid side. Didn't seem to be a big deal however.
It will probably do the same in the rear, only this time under power, jacking on the solid side, squatting on the risted side. But maybe not enough to be a big deal either.
There might be an issue of strength when used in the rear, too.

why not just build a 3 link suspension? Thats basicly what a wristed radius arm setup is, but with a 3 link you could put the 3rd link in the center to avoid any weird handling traits.

yeah ditto on build a three link. Pat Gremillion used 2 regular ford radius arms on hi Bronco and could not control the axle wrap, the C bushings allowed to much flex. With a wristed arm using stock c bushing mounts you only have one bushing to control the axle wrap instead of two. by the time you buy all the materials doing a 3 link would be a similar price and give much more positive control.

Build a nice 3 or 4 link and be done with it.

agreed!
with all the time yo spend on getting the C to fit the Diff and the radius arm mounts on the frame, just get some DOM and some Heims and make a 3/4 link and call it a day
