Big thanks to Jason M. for giving me my star!!

The first pic is my cruiser, 1980 Bj40. don't bash me about the stupid lights on the hard top, the previous owner installed them, he even brush painted flames on the side!! A little aceton took care of those.

The others are a couple of European cruiser's, tell me what you think, I think the red one is ok, but the bleu one is Fugly!

How long did it take you to get out of that hole???

You need lockers and much bigger tires for times like that!!!

:D

Happy to finally have the star???

:flipoff2: Those trucks were made in France home of wine, cheese and Gay looking rollbars, not in belgium home of beer, fries and real rollbars!

Must be one expensive bender to bend100mm/3.9inch tubing!!

Took me about 1 min to get out of that hole, with a little help from a friend on a fully locked Bj42 with 35" tyres!!

I tried to drive it out, but after i spinned the tyres about a million times and my clutch was burning up, I gave up and called for help. Those tyres are still stock sized michelins on split rims.

I've attached some pics of how it looks now, 32" Bf Goodrich all terrain's, 3" longer shackles, new bushings, frame sandblasted and painted with Por 15, home made rearbumper and rear X member,...

It's funny..... when you think about it, that pic could have been taken in my garage , Rust repaired cruiser frame, harbor freight jackstands, homebrew shackle reversal....... except this pic is from Belgium (on the other side of the world from me...
I just think it's cool, Land Cruisers truly are the world standard...

I will have to agree with the others on that:rainbow: rollbar on the Blue (french) cruiser
The guy who built that should be forced to undergo a rollover while strapped into the seat of that truck.. I bet his design would change right quick after that!!
The crazy thing is it was probably made on a huge$$$$ Ercolina mandrel bender or such....

The roll bar is silly, but did anyone notice the size of the mansion in the background. Man I wonder what their garage looks like!

Oh no Christof you found the two ugliest cruisers in France, :( and you post'em here ! So what do we look like, european cruisers after that shit I ask you ? confused
Those two cars come from a 4x4 bastardization specialist, and are not intended at wheeling (WHICH THEY SHOULD BE !) B4 undergoing this, they were probably usable cruisers with corrones. Now they will never ever see mud, or sand, or rocks and believe me I am ashamed when I see such a shit being done in my country.. barf
Here in France we have a bunch of cruiserheads who would never do this to their cruisers.

UZI, my cruiser does not look fast or furious at all. It'd rather look sloooow and stable. :D

Tom, from what you said 'bout FRENCH sh*t design, I must tell you : flipoff2 You are wrong, and thoses are probably the two worst of the very few examples you could find.

Christof, where are you in Belgium ? I'm in the north of France between Lille and Calais... How'bout a little beer
And where did you buy your POR-15, and at what price ?

Btw, here is a pic of mu BJ40. That thing may look low, but sometimes it can be kind of an advantage for instance when I pulled my father's landie while beeing on a muddy side slope, the car didn't roll despite beeing 45° from horizontal.
New springs are on their way, though.

Bye,

Denis,

Sorry didn't mean to offend... but THAT cruiser is sad indeed.

My favorite rally car is the Alpine A110! :D

Tom,

no offence taken, then...

You have a good taste for rally cars btw... We french people build the best rally cars in the world :rasta:

And some people build nice offroad trucks, too but that's another story... which may come here in the near future...

Christof,

Thanks for the info. I think I'll try that.

Btw, you could be interested by a meeting which is scheduled in the beginning of may in the countryside of Calais, with a few cruiserheads of the TOY4x4 mailing list...
2 offroad yards, and 2 road-book trips and probably a lot of
Do you speak french ?

Diesel_Cruiser

Nope, I speak dutch, only know a little bit of French.

I am very interested in the Toyota meeting but you have seen the pics of my truck, i still have to do a whole lot of work to my truck! So maybe next year.

You don't happen to know of any site's, adresses where i could find cheap parts? I looked at safari' website, but it's too expensive.

Christof,

what are you looking for as parts ? body, mech., elec. or ?
I have a few addresses recommended by the guys on the mail-list. One of them beeing in Belgium and specializing in body parts, but he also has lots of other stuff, most of it being 40 stuff. Dunno if Fabrice speaks dutch though. toy.4x4.extreme@skynet.be tell him I sent you.

He has a big FJ40 btw, which is a bitt too americanized for my taste...

Dennis, snapped some pics of my cruiser this afternoon, you'll see it's almost done :D :D .

About the parts i am looking for aren't mechanical or anything, al major parts i can get cheap through my Toyota 4X4 garage. Only thing he can't get me is the two hooks wich mount on the hood to keep the window down when it's folded down.

you're doing a goo job with your BJ. Does it sleep outside ?
I'm stripping down mine this weekend...

Normally it sleeps outside, but i kicked my mom's and my brother's cars out of the garage, en rolled my Bj in for the restoration. I just rolled it out in my yard to take the pic.

I looked at safari' website, but it's too expensive.

Hey Christoff,

You're right about that, he makes some good stuff now, like a stainless steel hood, cowl side panels etc.
But it also takes him a long time to built, i bought a tub from him and it took more than a year after payment.

BTW great pictures

man i have those bonnet clips...i painted all my hinges and accessories bright erd...back when i was a ricer, then i removed anything not remotely needed, in the next stage of the build

if you pay postage you can have them ;) or just fill the holes, you'll rarely fold it down, esp. if you have an 8 point cage that blocks the 2 big screws through your dash :(

Diesel_Cruiser
03-22-2002, 05:01 PM
I am planning on putting in a full cage, so you are right the hinges would be useless, never tought of that, thanks for the info.

I bought some milled polyutherane body lift blocks, the problem is the original rubber body mounts are rotten beyond salvation. What do you think about bolting the frame to the tub with nothing inbetween except the polyutherane body lift blocks? My truck is my daily driver so the handling and the comfort is important.

Bye,

Hey, what city between Lille and Calais? I spent a while traveling around France and French speaking Belgium about 8 years ago. I spent a few months in Arras and a couple in Tourcoing and a couple in Cambrais, which, if I remember correctly, are all in that side of France. Il fait si longtemps depuis que j'etait la-bas que j'ai presque oublie tout le francais que j'ai appris. Mais, je te souhaite le bienvenue, meme s'il est un peu en retard!

Anyway, I haven't been on this board for a while and it's cool to see the diversity.

Fine,

Jesse,

BTW, anybody comes around there, drop me a line and we'll try to set up something interesting...

Bye,

Denis
