can you convert the 28 spline 10 bolt to the 30 spline by just changing the side gears? or any other way?

why bother?:shaking: i mean you gain a little strenth but i doubt its worth the hassle spend the 100 bucks and get a 14 bolt ff

AFAIK you can, but i have heard that the opening on the carrier is bigger and the 30 spline gears won't fit.

I have a 30 spline Auburn Posi unit for the 10 bolt for sale if interested. It was originally in my 10 bolt rear before I swapped in a 14 SF. I think it will fit the front. It was only in the truck for 2 years, and it is still very tight. Let me know.

The 30-spline shaft will not slide thru the side of the 28-spline differential case... so swapping the side gears (even if its possible) won't matter.

Of course theres no such thing as a 14 bolt ff in front . BUT where in you're posting does it mention you were talking about a front axle?:shaking:

x2, not to mention the 30 spline 10 bolt isn't as common as the 28.

Technically, all front axles are full floating. And WMS makes front 14 bolts on a regular basis. Sorry, couldn't help myself.:flipoff2:

i was gona say i have seen 10.5" in mags, never knew they were purchase-able.

you could just swap the 30sp carrier in for the 28.

yeah i have seen them they are rare. a guy on here that goes by k5monsterchev or something has a front 14 bolt axle but the 4wd doest work the pumpkin is still in the middle:flipoff2: wms makes em thats cool! i think its a pita because of all the work you have to do besides the huge 10.5 pumpkin would have terrible ground clearance unless you shaved the hell outta it.:D

+1.... and I don't see a strength advantage with stock parts - the neck-down area doesn't improve in diameter.

I'm convinced the front 14 bolt serves no purpose other than to add +3 inches to the owner's overall penis length, for bragging rights. Can you say a solution to a problem that doesn't exist?

Well, WMS makes everything big it seems. So I guess the 14 front goes along with their general theme. I could thing of better hybrids to make, even a 60/eaton would be lighter.
