I drive a '01 Super Duty F250 with 35's
I am having issues with my power steering.
While turning the wheel I have been experiencing sticking.
I think it may be the fluid breaking down.
I have 35" tires and have never been able to turn the wheel lock to lock while sitting still. The truck must be moving while on cement.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Do I flush and renew fluid?
Any help here would be great.
TIA
Chris

I posted there first.

I will keep looking. Thanks

The stock Ford PS Pump is marginal as stock. The biggest help I did was flush out the stock fluid and change over to Mobil 1 synthetic tranny fluid. Pump quieted down and easier steering. New ball joints at 110k helped too. If changing the fluid does not help, your pump may be worn out.

Stangrcr1,
Did you do anything special when draining for the hydroboost?
I was going to drain it out but did not want to damage anything.

I bought a 2001 F250 diesel new (I wish I still had it). You always had to let off the brake a little if you wanted to turn the wheel when stopped, even with the little 265s on it.

How are the joints in your axle shafts? One of mine froze up and when trying to turn I would get this wierd resistance then it would let go as the axle shaft would turn to line up the other side of the joint. Replaced the u-joint, and everything was great.

probably already checked this, but my buddy had the same problem. Checked everything. Turns out the shaft on the stabilizer was bent. :shaking:
