Right now i'm wheeling an extended cab 4.3/ 5 speed truck and i want to put my motor and trans in to a short box 2.8/ 4 speed frame. Will the motor bolt up or will i need to mess with motor mounts? Sorry for the newbie question. I'm sick of bodies and putting a tube body on the short box frame so i can keep my truck together and wheelable while i build the buggy.

You will need to take the frame side mounts off of the 4.3 truck and install them on the 2.8 frame. The holes should all be there. So it will be a bolt in swap.

There are minor 4.3L clearance issues that were addressed with frame, firewall, & column revisions for the introduction of that engine.

The 4.3L will fit the earlier truck, but may need massaging with a hammer, or some very minor fab work to get around.

There won't be any stock fire wall left, so no worries about that. So i'm going to need to find some frame side 4.3 mounts? Guess i'll have to look a little closer to my frame.
