: How many miles do you have...
Tim Smith 03-20-2002, 11:25 AM you Ford before you had do do major work.
I want to know the engine size, tranny and t-case too.
Thanks.
Bad example is:
I have a '92 Escort LX 1.9, MTX Tranny, 2wd and 108K miles. No major work. About 5k of those is rally miles.
72 Bronco - 3 speed - orginal, 302 V8 original 226,000 miles (probably more because of the 33/12.50 tires
77 Bronco - NP435 (upgrade a few months ago, 3 speed still worked fine) - 302 V8 original 247,000 miles. This is my daily driver and the mileage is actually higher from the 35" MTR's.
Gotta love'em.
RockRanger 03-20-2002, 11:52 AM parents have a 91 aerostar AWD 4.0 has 290k+ miles only work has been water pump on the motor. The first tranny last 100k till the dealer decided to drain the tcase and not fill destorying the tranny t case and rear axle. We have had 4 more trannys in it sence then
Had a 91 escort 1.9 270k when we traded it in new tranny and clutch at 160k timing belts at 165 and 190k motor was never touched
Have a 99 escort 100+k so far only work tires alignment brakes and oil changes so far
86 ranger has 215k on it now head gaskets at 170k tranny at 90k and again at 196k origional t case still axles have been swap to much to make a difference in reliabilities.

bsumner 03-20-2002, 12:25 PM '88 B2, 205K. everything is good except for cracking a head at 200k. Mitsubishi FM145 transmission, bw1350 transfer, both in great condition.
Cherokee Paul 03-21-2002, 01:56 PM '79 351modified, 312,000 miles before Odometer broke... no major work.. fixed an oil leak, that's it.
Have a T-18, NP205...
Have a 400 in garage being rebuilt.. for replacement once the 351 does give up.
i once owned a 79 bronco with a 351m/c6/205 had 180000 when i sold it, of coarse it had 38s on it and alot more miles in reality. then i had and 89 f150 with 35s 5.0/5spd/dunno and i got about 150000 and had to overhaul the engine. i currently have and 86 f250 with 35s 351w/c6/208 and it has 160000 on the odometer alot more in reality and still runs good, but will shortly be swapped for a 460. the 351w will then find its home in a cj7 and keep ticking away. i thought it was burning some serious oil but it turns out the 1 valve cover is leaking alot out. im sure this motor will kick in the cj and cant wait to get that project going
welndmn 03-21-2002, 03:25 PM 91 F-250, 460 (some over drvie tranny) 10.25 200,000
replaced the trans at 100k, other then that this truck has towed all its life, and it alwyas towed in Over drive as well
WhiskeyTango 03-21-2002, 05:11 PM You are all lucky.
My ford (78 F150) has 228K on it. The motor and tranny have been replaced, both differentials rebuilt, every steering component has failed except pump, every Ball joint, u-joint, brake part (only 1 rotor though) on whole rig has been replaced just since I've owned it due to failure, radiator had the once over. The only solid original parts on the beast that involves getting it down the road that haven't been replaced are the hubs and the T-case, thoughht you guys should know you're quite fortunate.
(If my truck hadn't lived it's whole 24 years as someone's wheeler, I probably would have a different reply to this post!)
Cherokee Paul 03-21-2002, 05:18 PM Instead of saying we're fortunate.. I would say you're rather unfortunate.. seems your truck is the exception :/
I surely don't baby mine..

pavelow 03-21-2002, 05:56 PM 94 Ranger, 4.0 V-6, A4LD automatic. B/W 1354 T/C.
Got 111,000 miles on it, and still runs like it was born yesterday.
I have never replaced anything on the engine, except for the parts I replaced for performance reasons.
I had to have the tranny rebuilt about 1.5 years ago, the OD planetary gear sheared in half....fun.
In the 2 years I have owned it I have put 14,000 miles on it, so its hard to base anything.
4x4junkie 03-24-2002, 10:50 PM I have 82,000 miles on my '94 4.0 M5OD with BW1354 (manual-shift) that I bought new. It now has dings and scratches from being in the rocks, but all the driveline parts (except axles) is all original. No problems so far. Thats still relatively low mileage, though.
A friend bought a used '93 Ranger (same specs as mine) 3 years ago with 90,000 miles on it. He's clocked another 50,000 with no more than having to replace a stuck thermostat.
Paul Gagnon 03-25-2002, 12:13 AM '92 Explorer 4.0L with A4LD and 13-54(Touch Drive) currently has 213,040km (132,376 miles) on it. The engine is still strong and the only thing that has ever been done to it is new spark plugs. The tranny was rebuilt at 171,000km (106,254 miles) because I was stupid and overheated it by being in 4 high on a very steep mountain trail. I hadn't regeared after putting on my 33's. The transmission shop upgraded everything that was upgradable. It has performed flawlessly since.
saf-t scissors 03-25-2002, 07:34 AM '90 Bronco, 302, M5OD, BW13-56
Broke a ring at 70K. Broke the 5th/rev fork at 130K, burned the 13-56 completely up at around 150K. Has 180K now, and runs fine. Oh, and the 8.8 bit the dust at 170K
'92 Bronco, 302, E4OD, BW13-56
Cracked a head at 70K. Burned up the E4OD at 120K. 215K on the clock now, and needs a new motor badly.
Oh, and since no one else said it: Didn't you read Camo's post? This is a hard core board. Nobody gives a fawk about how many miles you have on your Aerostar. :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
Eric D 03-25-2002, 09:15 AM 86 B2, A4LD trans, 2.9l engine, 1350 T-Case - 245k miles and transmission died, rebuilt that and the rest is still going. 4-wheel to my vehicle's limits 1-3 weekends a month, every month.
81 Escort L - 300+k miles, timing belt slipped, scrapped car. I got it free in the first place with 80k miles on it.
82 Escort GT - ~175k miles, nearly all interior parts and electrical parts crapped out within about 1 week's time. It was amazing how every time I would hop into the car, something else would break. I had to use a ratchet to turn the ignition when something inside broke as I was trying to turn it with a key. Started backfiring and the exhaust pipe ruptured BIG just after the cat. The engine and trans were still pulling strong but too much else was wrong with the car, so I scrapped it. I paid $700 for it and got 50k out of it.
86 Escort LX - ~250k miles, traded with friend for a 74 Duster, Escort still running strong but had replaced axle shafts twice.
(why do I keep buying Escorts? they are DIRT CHEAP used and you can get a lot of miles out of them before they crap out - plus they have comfortable seats, get great gas mileage, and handle well enough to be occasionally fun to drive - truly a great disposable piece of transportation)

LOL... actually it is very relevant information. It shows a 4.0L that runs forever and an A4LD that can't hold spit in it's mouth. ;)
