we all know the best ones are the carbed chevy 2.8 and ford 2.8 for motors, the A4ld in rangers for trannys and the np231 t case in wranglers.

chev smallblock, sm465, np205. all geardriven and bulletproof. don't build in lots of power or you effect reliability.

the dodge slant six is buy far the best
moter ever made.

most cars will fall apart around that moter

the reason is that it originaly was desined
to be made out of aluminum and they
actualy did produce a few out of aluminum
before changing to irion block.

I agree that toyota makes a good moter
and the chevy small block is great but
nothing compares to the dodge slant six.

Ain't that the truth. I have a 1986 subaru gl . That mofo sat for 5 years. Put fluids in it, new battery, and it started right up. I used it for a year with no problems. Has over 200,000 miles on it too and still going strong. The car looks like crap, but the motor looks like it just came off the assembly line.

I was thinking more like a 400 cummins, Fuller RTLO18618, backed up with a Fabco TC-142 two speed air shift tcase. Nice stuff.
