: Help with my 2005 Ford F350 LOUD Engine Noise!
RP Films 11-16-2005, 12:03 AM So I bought a Brand new 2005 Ford F350 Dully. I brought it in around 6000 for an oil change and said I heard a Whistle while towing. They said they checked the turbo and found a loose bracket and it was all good now. So I left went on the road again and heard the whislte again same LOUD noise from exaclty same time and coming from same area. I was on the road for awhile so I couldnt come back in for a few miles. Well the Noise got worse and worse to the point that when I finally came home, it was making it at Idle. They replaced the Turbo and said I was Fine.....Well Nope it whislted again. Same time same area...real LOUD. So I took it in because someone that heard it said it might be my Fan Clutch so they replaced that.......Nope Still got it. And now they want me to bring in my trailer and drive a Tech around till I can make the Noise..... And that they wont even look at it till I can make it. I think it is because I said it only comes while under towing...but told them it is the same noise that got worse and they allready heard it. They said No way. But keep in Mind when I was in there for the Fan Clutch it was Sept 10th and 22,000 miles. I went in last Wednesday and the RO was still open???? While they kept the R.O. open for a whole Month. Need some help? Should I go drive the Tech around? Or just file with the BBB??? Thanks I really could use the help here!
Lance you have heard the NOISE!
Rwhat 11-16-2005, 12:37 AM Check out the Dieselstop.com
I'm on a second Turbo on my 04 plus its leaking everywhere. The noise may be caused by the boost under load. Check the turbo piping on the passanger side coming from the intercooler to the Turbo. Look for oil. There may be a cut/crack in it causing the whistle under load. Those hoses have been blowing off alot of 6.0s under load. If they give you anymore crap start talking about the Dealership evaluation Ford send you in the mail.
lok'd chic 11-16-2005, 01:42 AM We have an 05 also, but we are having problems with exhaust leaks.:shaking:
We took it in numerous times and told them to drive it around and they would smell it. We got a call saying they did what we said and didn't smell anything. Went to the dealership and the milage was they same as when we left it...grrr
You really should take it there and try to duplicate it with the tech in the truck! That's about the only way they will do anything for ya. I don't think it's BBB time just yet. Give 'em 3 tries then file a complaint.
the turbo's on these thing's are a bit noisy, especially the 03's mine makes a shrill high pitch whine, only when loaded also, it's a turbo noise. a long trip usually give me a headache driving the truck, and adding the new larger intercooler added to the noise conciderably. i'm not sure WTF is causing it, but i'd go grab the trailer and take the shit bag for a ride. make sure it act's up good with him in there... your taking it to Jones West right?
CanuckJeeper 11-16-2005, 08:08 AM Load up the trailer and tow the tech around. I mean, drive him around.
If they can't fix it after that... then it's time for the lemon law :flipoff2:
JP - Happy with his '01 F350!

Yeah Dave it makes your noise sound Tame! Yeah even Mr. West has called me. With the RO open for Twon Months they are F-cked. This truck is Bone Stock. We will see what happens. Thanks for the help.
MattS 11-16-2005, 04:11 PM My brothers 05 had a bad leak in the exhaust pipe right where the firewall bends back and becomes the floor. It took me forever to find. The bracket that holds that section of pipe is designed totally wrong.
Here's the section that came apart.

I think that may be the understatement of the year! How you guys drive those things everyday is beyond me. I like a little turbo noise, but I don't need anyone to think Ford installed it in the glove box. We just picked up an 06 Dodge 2500 for work with the Cummins. I'm a Ford guy, and we didn't even consider a Ford with the 6.0. Last guy I know who had one had it in the shop literally more than it was on the road. He ended up selling it back with less than 3k on it. I'll take my 7.3 anyday over one of those 6.0 turds. 205k and still going strong.

i'd gotten used to it for the most part, until the new intercooler, it's almost twice as bad now... but damn is it fast :D

CanuckJeeper 02-11-2006, 08:34 AM I've been quite partial to Ford Powerstrokes (both 7.3L and 6.0L) but when they can't fix their problems... I'm glad that you won!
A company needs to stand behind their products, junk or not!
