Straight to the point, and yes I searched but not enought solid info.
98 ctd, 4x4, ex cab, shortbed, auto.
Thinking about picking it up to drive daily, tow a toy hauler and the quads. I was just wondering how a lift and larger tires affect MPG street and HWY, throw me some real world numbers on how your lifted CTD's do.
Thanks in advance

I didn't notice any significant effect on (corrected for size) milage, either going from stock 245/75s to 255/85, or from 255/85s to 315/75s.

I get higher milage on the freeway (lower RPM) when cruising nice
Around town is about the same as far as I can tell.
It does make a noticeable effect on power

TRD is correct that it does make an effect on low end horsepower, at least it does for me. I have a 2004, 3500 4x4 DRW 6spd, and went from a 235/85/17 tire, to a 315/70/17 and I could definitely tell the difference. You can do several things to correct this. Either, you can advance the timiing. You could also chip it, but that is a little more pricey. Finally and the most costly, you could alwasys regear.

01 ho 6 speed 3.55 gears bullydog chip bhaf straight piped with 315's and it gets about 1 mpg worse around town with the work trailer and 1.5 mpg better on the road empty than with the stock tires. I have seen just a hair over 20 mpg freeway and with a 5000 pound construction trailer on the back six days a week I see 15-17 mpg in local driving. No power problems either on you get it rolling.
