: wiring '88 YJ for 4.0L EFI

vehicle is a '88 YJ, original 4.2L 5 spd, making switch to 4.0L complete with EFI from '92 YJ (using '92 drivetrain as well from same donor vehicle).

my questions:
does anyone have complete wiring diagrams for these vehicles(and im not interested in the ones from the back of the chilton and haynes manuals) that they would be willing to share?

can anyone advise on what circuits from either vehicle's underhood harness may be eliminated completely to reduce underhood clutter. I have ALL underhood wiring for both year YJs.

the bulkhead connector directly to the side of the clutch slave cylinder, i was planning on using the '88s lighting system section but am unsure on the wisest choice on how to handle the other section. i assume it is mainly the dash and body harness and probably the ignition switch that runs through this section. is there the possibility of repinning the '92s harness at the connector to interface? or am i better off trying to splice the neccesary circuits from the '92s INTO the '88s existing wiring?

any good advice will be appreciated..

not to sound feeble, but would you please provide a link to the appropriate painless wiring kit. last time i searched there website, i was unable to locate a harness for this application. perhaps a new addition to their inventory???

also, i would honestly prefer to utilize the factory harnesses, as they are both still in good condition and i dont really have the cash to burn right now...

thanks...

I am trying to undesrtand what you need after re-reading your question... Assuming you have all the underhood harness, ECM, distributor, fan, shroud, radiator, 23 spline TC input shaft and starter (you most likely have a 21 spline 231, and did not mention that...) most likely fuel pump will need to be replaced as well.Check with Painless, there is a kit, also check with HESCO, they have a wiring setup for 258 to 4.0 swaps as well. Pick up the phone ;)

DO a search here, since this is a very common swap, and if you have the donor harness, why not just run it? Several good write ups and just typing 4.0 engine swap on google (or more articulate searches here will yiled what you are looking for...)

this may help teach you how to splice up the wirinng:

ah, and aslo a bizzilion swaps and write-ups on the same link ;)

Thanks for the links. Have been doing searchs here, google, quadratec... still can not find info on the bulkhead connector directly to the side of the clutch slave cylinder. http://www.wilhelm-tech.com/jeep/mods/40EngineSwap.htm is talking about a 4.0l out of a Cherokee with obd-2. most links talk about cherokee motors and cj's i am looking to do as little cutting as needed.
