Does it matter whether you mount the shckle end of the spring in front of the axle or behind it? Does it have any importance on how the system works on upward or downward travel? I was gonna just mount it on top like I see alot done like that, but I fear that It will sit much higher than the front end sits. I've seen some mount to the rear, but if I do that I will not gain the wheel base that I want. Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff, Make sure wherever you mount it to mount the shackle to a heim joint. You want as much of the "swivel" to be taken up by a heim joint or a swivelshackle of some sort. But it looks good so far. I mounted mine right on top of the axle, and it worked out great for me. You saw it, even front and rear

Well I'm no expert but I am doing a 1/4 elliptaical on my cj7 right now.I am pretty much at the same point you are and I dont think that it matters witch side of the axle you mount too. I am going to mount the shackles with a hiem on the back side of the axle because it would be too high if I mounted it on top. As far as the wheel base is concerned I am going two inches longer in back because that is about all I can do without moving my gas tank or getting a fuel cell. Oh ya, right now I have 36" tsl's and stock cj springs in a spring over for the front. I fugure that when I step up to 38"-39" tires I'll get a fuel cell and move the axle back. Then I can mount the shackles on top of the axle to get the lift I need for the bigger meats.Later:beer:

Suzuki w/the Heat is running no shakles just has a pad for the spring to rest. so I dont think it matters where the shackle is mounted if any.

Jeff, remember all the work is in the 4 link, the rest is a cake walk, and you can always swap things in and out once the 4 link is done. So build the link setup, and then deal with wher you are gonna mount the springs on the axle, but I strongly recommend you run them on a heim.

Jeff It shouldn't matter where you locate the shackle. Just make sure to get your shackle angle right. You may want to PM Snortclown for specifics. I am planning on moving my shackles from the top to the front of the axle (so the vehicle sits a little lower) because I don't want to shorten my wheelbase by putting it in the back of the axle. Snortclown can help you figure out your shackle angle(s).
