Ehsan, it's hard to tell from the pics if those overhead spreader bars are welded to the hoops. Is your setup being designed to be collapsable like the factory 40 bows, or are you planning it to be a welded unit?

It is a collapsable unit. But it can be welded if desired once on a 45. The round bows are also going to be collapsable exactly like the 40 to reduce the size.

COOL!

Have you ever seen the pics in the Toyota microfiche for the original bed bow setup? Two bedrails, single rear hoop and a couple of wood slats down each side from the headache rack to the rear hoop.

I like your design MUCH BETTER. I started working on one for my truck earlier this year that had 3 hoops, and I found that it wasn't enough. Figured that 5 would be the minimum. Then my plans changed.

Besides, hardly anyone here has the headache rack anyways.

Never seen what you are referering to. Any pics..
Yes 3 are not enough. And concerning the headache racks? They are so many here. Didnt they come on the 45s there? Or have they rustd. We even make them here..:)

Comment #1: COOL!:cool2:

Comment #2. Why the rail across the back. It seems like it would be a constant annoyance to gaining access to the bed. Unless you are dealing with a bed that is extremely flimsy, the latches should be sufficient to hold the sides of the bed together when the truck is in motion and not overly stress the fabric. If the rail is to secure the fabric at the bottom, I would look for a way to integrate it into the tailgate.

Comment #3. I understood the use of velcro when fabric needed to be wrapped around a pole and secured from the inside, like on Bestop's old soft tops. I do not understand it's use on an exterior surface, and where it is not being used to secure the fabric around a pole. It seems like a zipper would be a superior connector. If you have a reason for the velcro that I am not seeing, I'd be glad to hear it.

the rear rail is just for mockup

Quick note, the velcro or any fastner there is "facing" the wind. It would tend to pull it open. a counter flap that folds back on the connection or other method would be good. As is it would tend to take in wing and water...

But I like it, unfortunately I'm a short bed guy, but have thought about these tops for years. Good job!

The rail across the back is a mockup of the original tub.Three Buttons secure the side piece around the rear bows on each side. The rear flap is secured on the side by the velcro strip. This is strong enough to withstand the wind. However, buttons can be added to make it stronger.
