ok so i need to know for sure. are ford flat tops really any worse than chevy for high steer? i don't need to know what people have heard i really need to know if anyone has any actual experience with them breaking.

I have not run both, but if you want strength...check out Dedenbear new knuckle.
I's say since both are Spicer knuckle, and they are similar, they are close enough for it not to madder.
For most people it's more a matter of what bolt patter they want to run, and what parts you already have.

ok i have a complete ford axle with flat tops but i heard the top wasn't massive enough to handle the drilling and tapping of high steer, so i just wanted to find out for sure
a lot of ford knuckles LOOK like flattops if you do not know what a flattop knuckle is.
if it is a true flattop knuckle it will have the extra metal in the locations that the steering arm studs reside
look inside the knuckle and see if the raised areas are present

that might be true, however my original question didn't have anything to do with how to tell if a knuckle is a flat top or not
