Did some searching, tried the company that 1tonTJ got his from, but they won't ship across the border from Canada to the lower 48 ($80 CDN). Mcmaster Carr wants $160, and two weeks to deliver. I know the tap will cost me ~~$100, but is there any sources in the US that have them pre made, and can ship to me as soon as I pay them with my credit card? I tried Scott Supply, J&L Industrial, and MSC, but no dice. I'm needing to get my steering made ASAP to get the Scrambler ready for a local event coming up quick, and I have everything else, both tool and parts wise, to make my steering, except for the damn oddball tap. Any help is appreciated, and would even consider buying one someone used once and never needed again.
Thanks for the help......

Chad, isn't there a shop in your town that will tap the rods for you? You might go this route if finding a tap dosen't pan out.

Taps Direct (http://www.tapsdirect.com/index.html)
They dont show the right one(lefthand thread) on their site but they might still sell them.
As liveaxle said, a good machine shop should be able to cut the inside threads for you, probably cheaper than buying the tap. I had mine cut (same threads as you) for $50 and that was both ends of my drag link.

Got my tool shop looking for some suppliers in LA, Calilifornia. Price was quoted as low as $20 and as high as $90. I'll get back as soon as i know something.
tacoma screw in wa has them i believe. i found a 5/8"-18 LH tap for 24 bucks there. then i discovered the thread on tie rod ends are metric.... 18-1.5 pitch. now that tap is hard to find.... tacoma screw 425 290-5448

Beaver Drill & Tool Co
3995 Mission Rd
Kansas City, KS 66103-2798
Phone: (913)384-2400
They don't have them in stock but they can have one ground for you and ship it out in 24 hrs. I called on one about a month ago and they told me about $80-$90. HTH
Another possible solution:
Avalanche sells 7/8-18 weld in tube inserts (1" i.d. tube), LH & RH, for ~$12 ea.

I got one ordered from Beaver Drill and Tool. $114.70. A little pricey for a seldom used item, but definitley cheaper than some others I found, and it will be delivered to me on Monday.
Thanks for all the help.
