Just looking for some opinions here. A while ago I bought a Flowmaster muffler and carefully boogered it onto my stock exhaust tubing. After a couple failed attempts I got no leaks, finally. About 6 months later, I am noticing a hollow whistling/whining sound at certain RPM's (loudest around 2200 rpms). Couple questions:
Could it be possible that a fin inside the muffler broke loose and is causing this distinct hollow, drowning out, whining sound? If not, would an exhaust leak cause that type of sound? FWIW, when I start the motor when it's cold, I can feel no leaks anywhere around the whole exhaust system.
I am considering replacing a small section of my exhaust (just to eliminate the booger welded section) and confused about what type of tubing to use. Summit sells aluminized steel for a decent price, is it possible to weld this type of steel with regular flux core wire? (for regular steel)
Thanks for any, and all input!
