I can get the front Tracker gears at one yard for $50, but the junkyard that has the other set of fronts, wants 3 times that. I can probably pick up the rear for a song at the first yard. Is it really that much different?? I know the diff is centered. Does it cause that much vibration?? Is the hogshead big enough to cause ground clearance problems?(I am on 31s)
I have to change the rear on my Sammy anyway(bearings are shot, and spring perches wrong angle!). Why not go big?!?

Big? Well, yeah, I guess it's bigger than what you got... I wouldn't say it's big though :flipoff2: The coils might be cool to keep, lot of work though...

Seems like alot of trouble to save $100. I wouldn't run a centered diff without a CV style driveshaft which will eat up any cost savings real quick.

Your definatly going to spend more then 100 just getting it to fit in.
Different backspaced wheels, different driveshaft, spring perches, all the time it takes to prep the axle.
You gain strength in the 3rd member, and main part of the axle shafts, but not at the Splines of the axle shafts :p

That picture doesnt even show how torsion twisted that little stub end is. When that snapped, it whiped out my side gear.

Not to mention the ground clearance you'll lose. (And you WILL notice it)
Not worth it if you are going to stay under 32's IMHO.

I have a 'kik rear that I'm planning to put into my Sam. I'm cutting the one side down 5 3/4" and putting a LJ-80 axle into it. It saves having to cut down both sides and it makes the diff a bit wider as well. You will still have to run a CV because the diff is still off a bit.

I have one of brents sidekick hybrid axles and it works really well. I have 33's and with a 5.12s and with that gear ratio on a stock rearend the ring and pinion would be very weak. the kik ring and pinion is alot stronger and I haven't had ground clearence problems at all.:)

Was that a front kick R&P in a sami rear? or a Kick rear R&P in a hybrid rear?

Sorry, modified kick fronts in the stock rear...
