: Spindles -- I need sizes.

Alright... I'm looking for a resource online or otherwise.

Specifically, I'm looking for a spindle that I can use on my FSJ AMC-20 to make it a FF.

The ID of the end of the axle tube is 2 7/8" I'm planning on using a 1.5" 35 spline axle. I can have the spindle machined (slightly) so a 3" may work.

Any ideas, suggestions? Thanks,

- Mike

this is an interesting idea.
how were you planning to make the AMC 20 35 spline?
custom spool, or broach out the side gears in the locker?
a rear spindle is not a bolt on soloution, as they are weled to the tubes.
I don't think a front 44 spindle will support a 1.5" shaft. a dana 50 or 60 spindle should work.
this kinda limits your lockout chices, too, since the broached out Warn 1 tons aren't very strong.
you could re-tube the AMC 20 housing using a 14 bolt for parts.
any more info on your idea?

Ok, here's the deal:

The FSJ AMC-20's have a larger wheel bearing. The wheel bearing mounting surface on the axle is a little over 1.5" -- which means the entire shaft could be made 1.5" w/ 35 splines instead of tapering down into the carrier.

The idea is to use a custom spool, which I'm still researching what I need to do about Carrier bearings (see "Carrier Bearings -- Info Needed" thread)

I was thinking that since the FSJ AMC-20 ends are larger that I might be able to find a spindle that would work and then I could go FF. If not, I can still go SF and use the stock Wheel Bearings on the larger axle.

Dude why not get a corp 14 bolt dually axle, they are only like 62". Your FSJ AMC 20 should be 60-61". Shave the hell outta the 14 bolt and your set!

That is what I would suggest. I did away with the 20 rear and have a 14 bolt getting ready to go in. Disc Brakes are easy and you will have tons of strength for little money.

well sure,
ANYBODY could do that!
It takes a truly sick individual to come up with the custom crap.

I am, by no means, downing custom shit! The guys on thi9s board design & build some of the coolest wheeling shit there is. In this case it seems like more of a hassle. I didnt mean to come off like a prick, I forget everyone isnt on a tight budget or time constraints. If you have the patience & the money go for it. I would just think the cost of the custom spool would be more than the entire 14 bolt.

To each his own:D

I'm just kidding.
some people respect cash outlay.
some respect pure drivetrain beef.
I respect blatant lack of sanity.
every jeep should have that "WTF is THAT?!?" factor..

Why not 14 bolt or Dana 60 or Dana 70? Those axles are freakin' pigs. They hang way down and they weigh a ton.

I already have the AMC 20. I've already shaved the AMC-20 (gained 3/4" to 7/8" clearance) I'm estimating I'll have as much or more clearance under the diff with 38" tires that a 14/60/70 equipped rig w/ 40's.

Besides I'd rather do things my way than be a mindless drone and follow "the mob." The only thing being a sheep will get ya is porked by the sheep rancher... :flipoff2:
