You cannot buy a spool for a TLC diff.

Why are you so adamant about not welding it? If you do it right it is reversable just like a locker.

Well you might be able to find a spool for the rear end, how ever you will have to spend the $800 to $1000 for a full float conversion kit to use it. Spools can not be used with the existing C-Clip rear end.

Nolan is right, weld it. However, weld the crap out of it, and if/when you buy a locker for it get a full detroit. :D

It just seems hokey & I've heard some scary stories about failure. Also, I am an amatuer welder and haven't tracked a good( and reasonable ) one down.

I saw your "How to weld it" photo when I did my search. That is the way I will go if I must but...

Anybody in Atlanta know a competent welder?

Thanks again- always good info/advice here,
Chris

PS it will get an ARB eventually but I need something NOW and don't like the way things "feel" engaging/disengaging as they see fit. I like predictable and reliable!

Weld it then!! I may have another third member that I will end up not using, if so I will weld it up and you can have the carrier.
