Been thinkin seriously about it for a few months now...still, I think we'll build Bec a new crawler instead as her's has two seasons on it.

So much for UROC-Racing...lol

The buggy we are building will just be used for the XRRA rock races, already making some changes, that 502 is going to be tight:flipoff2:

We are looking at making some changes on the current buggy. Supercharger, possibly nitrous and a lot more up travel.

We may have to increase our 165 hp motor a little to keep up with you guys.:D

Our suspension on our buggy worked good but we need to increase the up travel by just alittle bit, maybe two or three inches more.

If they ever come this way just add nitrogen and maybe a smaller blower pulley:)

Marty and I have run a lot of timed stuff around here, me in the skinny single seater and Marty in his present ride. I did not have enough up travel in my car but did ok, Marty's MB was eating it up, we could both run fast but my chassis was getting pitched where his was running like an arrow. Shannon could kick it in his LS1 car:)

What engine does marty run in the mb. That thing accelerates from 0 to warp speed in like 1.2 seconds.

Slightly tweaked 4.3

We probably adding a twin screw to the LS1, not just for rock racing though, I just like power:D

it will take more than a moon buggy to keep up

We are building two rigs for the next XRRA season. One totally new. One with a new chasis and suspension (motor from old buggy). Still deciding on what motor to run in the new one. Probly go with v8 power, LS1 or Ramjet maybe?

Smack talkin already??? I know in local speed stuff around here (trees and tighter trails) the smaller lighter cars tend to spank as they are more nimble and the loss in wt offsets the smaller hp. Heck, Chuck took my buggy last yr to a grass drag and came in 2nd or third. a built 460 EB edged him out.

I gotta take some time and fly out and catch one of these events. How long are the courses generally? Typical to nornmal comps?

One of the best things about the XRRA events are that the courses are MUCH longer than a typical comp course.

i've only seen pics. Looks like multiple lines and lots of fun. How many courses for the weekend?

The courses are usually pretty wide so we're not all getting herded through the exact same lines- so it's more about the driver (and spotter) picking the right lines and knowing how hard to push before breaking than pure hp or suspension. 2 courses usually- run forward in the AM, backward after noon so four total runs.

The terrain has been a mixture of everything- snow, mud, huge rocks, biggish splat style ledges, loose rocky climbs, pure dirt cross country track with a little rockcrawling, big dirt climbs, and tight turns. Oh, and one optional 37' jump (see avatar):D

Anyone building a rig just for Rock Racing?
Yup :D HP and light weight and suspension can never hurt, though.

All this talk of building new buggies, whew! You guys wear me out. Like Peter says it's about the driver and spotter more than the car.

So just for the record Yoder and I have our resume ready for anyone hiring, and we're cheap too.

Yep! Love to tease the moon buggy guys. XRRA sounds like they will have big jumps and straight aways. That's what got us excited about the sport.

RJ,
I've been getting as much info out of Mike Weaver as I can. Plans are to build a "Racer" car for 06. Just don't know when I'll get it done.Big changes around here in the works. Sounds like from Mikes point of view, there's no one thing that works the best. Horses and travel are always a good thing. Back to remote res. coilovers and maybe some bypass stuff. I even thought about some good ole leafs ala Chris Ds old car. Can't wait to get out there and break some shit! :grinpimp:

Pepper, good to see your gonna try it in o6. I am building my racer now and coil over with remote and an LS1 will be the main ingredients. I ran it this year with my 4cyl sammy but really wasn't that competitive with the 37s air shocks and low hp.
42" tires (the Irocs seem to work well) 60s, 6-8" of up travel, air bumps, 2 seats (so you don't run over your spotter), geared for wheel speed and fast steering, a little heavier steel where the chassis will make contact with the rocks and keeping the weight down some how are all good things to consider.

Sounds like the meeting went well. Looks like there are going to be several new competitors next year. Since I havn't heard, whats the deal with UROCs racing?

We've got one in the shop right now that we are focussing the majority of the build around Rock Racing. It will still be able to weekend crawl, but rock racing is it's bloodline and future. Step one was to get a crazy fawk behind the wheel, with that done, now we're just gonna build him something he can't break :D

JMP, are you trying to out do RJ? J/K.

If the series were a little closer I would build a rig for it. I've wanted a something like this to happen ever since they did the 24 hours of the Hammers. Hopefully I can make atleast one race next year.
