I'm glad you were able to enjoy the Con before it was paved.

Check out the Rubicon Forum. Without many knowing 'they' blasted Gatekeeper. Rumor has it that Lil Sluice will be next.

What?!? That's FUCKING INSANE!!! What is the purpose of having an off road trail without any obsticles. Was this action spearheaded by the Xterra drivers crowd or what? What are we going to have to do... give birth to a new breed of wheelers known as "Rock Huggers"??? Are we going to have to chain ourselves to big boulders to keep them from blasting them to hell and back?

Anybody have any pictures of the post-blasted Gatekeeper (or should we call it the Welcome Mat now)?

I think that is the purpose! Loose the off road appeal and they don't have to fight the off raoders anymore... well there goes one of my goals :mad3:

I'm mad at the principal, but I wouldn't right off the trail because what they did to one obsticle. Gatekeeper is about 5 to 10 minutes into the trail from Loon. There is still several more days of trail to run beyond it.

So they are going to destroy nature in order to keep us from enjoying it? Makes a lot of sense to me.

From the thread in the Rubicon Trail Talk Forum

Here are some certainties:

Little Sluice will be blasted.
There is no current date.
When a date is set it will not be released to the public.
Gatekeeper was a test bed for what blasting can or cannot accomplish.
This test bed is a direct result of involvement of a very few FOTR individuals.
We (I am included) feel it was done to represent the user group as a whole.
I realize that not everyone will be pleased.
I have heard from many that think the blasting was a good move.
I feel as strongly about THE TRAIL as most of you.
Maybe more because I am near poverty to be there.

Now Little Sluice I just can't understand. It was truly a pleasure to watch JoshC pick his way through it last September. The rest of our group chose to exit up Chicken Rock and bypass it. This is why I don't understand the logic of blasting Little Sluice... there is a perfectly accpetable way around it if you choose not to take it on.

They want to kill the party. No show in the box, no party! Big weekends are nuts.

FOTR

So is that the ultimate plan? Make the trail less appealing? :(

I was up there this past Sunday and saw the burnout Scout being pulled out. I was wondering what happended to the gate keeper, I guess open diff is not a problem anymore.
