Spotted a Santana PS10 the other day - Spanish copy of a series LR with wider track and disc brakes.

It looks like the hubs, swivels and associated brake components would bolt straight on. If so it would be a good source of new parts to update a series LR.

And the rear diff is HUGE!!!

Pice are here (clic on pics to view full size):

There was a company in Iran making these axles for them. I looked at importing them, big headache

Importing from Iran or Spain?

There are Santana dealers over all of Europe and the UK these days - surely there is somewhere that an easy import can be arranged from.

If you want another hefty markup.

Or you could buy the Series conversion NOW! in the USA from BCB or Rovers North???:)

Which axle assembly? as Rover never made a conversion using your Series axle like what BCB offers??

you get what you pay for!!!

If I recall correctly, somebody in Dubai imported about 4 sets of the Iran axles when I was still living there or just after. The price was right and there was NO hassle with that import. I believe they were quite pleased. To the US, it would be a problem. These are not "Santanna" axles, they are similar to but made by a company that, like Santanna, had a relationship with LR and moved on.

Prices for the PS-10 were considerably cheaper in Spain as I recall - I believe that they were retailing at E 19,000. TIConsole were selling Santanna axles in the past but don't know if they are now and they would be expensive.

No they didnt but, if you follow/read the thread, this is not about rovers but rather santanas and santana axles. Which were and may still be made in Iran. They are leafsprung but have disc brakes. You will find that market for series rover parts is pretty limited. Therefore companies producing parts for them do so in smaller batches and the unit price is much greater than a similar component for a more common vehicle. What that means is you rarely get what you pay for in the land rover aftermarket.

I think IsuzuRover mentioned the Santana but was more interested in bolting on its brake parts to his existing axle? right?? The Santana's are mass produced and therefore the parts could potentially be cheaper than custom
made parts but as mentioned shipping from Spain would be astronomical! hence me suggesting a domestic manufacturer. Either way it is still much stronger than the RR/Disco/Def swivel housing setup.

this picture illustrates a Series using a 98 Disco axle housing which is 2" wider each end than a Series housing it then has Series flanges welded to the ends and then uses a BCB big "ball" disc conversion w/ AEU2522 CV's inside. The disc conversion is a straight bolt on to a Series housing. Sorry the picture does not really show the conversion that well!

As I mentioned I looked into importing complete santana axle assemblies. I was hoping to get them in bulk so as to defray shipping costs. Im familiar with the BCB setup. Its nice but its extremely expensive. A new complete axle with discs that would be a bolt in would be superior in just about every way I can think of.

I totally agree! let the big companies swallow the R&D costs. It cost Timm & Mathew over 30 grand! and I lost a lot of sleep waiting for it!

Cheers!

hows the 109 beast doing? is the rear end still welded?

have you seen Timms new one?

Ike understands perfectly.

If anyone (Ike? RPR?) has contact details for this company in Iran I would be interested. I think it wouldn't be as hard to ship parts from Iran to OZ as from Iran to the US.

I also forgot to mention that the rear axle has a selectable locker as an option.

Just saw this one... Looks pretty cool and about E1000 cheaper than the wagon. Shame you guys in the US have no way to get hold of a new complete vehicle.

IIRC the selectable locker is supplied by KAM and the diff is essentially the old but robust Salisbury/101/Dana unit but now fitted to a pumpkin.

Getting better, but still in need of a lot of work. Rear end is still welded. Yes have seen the series three, before long he'll have a disco . . .:shaking: Who are you?

Ben:

Ranesh Motor Company was making them. They had a website but I am unable to find it. Salsbury with a drop out third? That sounds pretty sporty.

Thanks Ike.

Drop out Salisbudy/D60 third sounds strange to me - centre casing didn't look big enough for that.

One of our local Rover shops is bringing in new LT85s.
