Most people will say that Thornbirds are :rainbow: , I personally don't mind the looks of them, but they are not a MT , barely a AT, I think they are a street tire with side lugs.

I think they look cool, but I've hear they suck, even in MUD!!! Even though I mostly see them on MUD trucks....Go figure!?!?

Terry Keuhl runs 'em on Lil'Foot, too.. seems to like 'em..
*shrug*
A buddy put some on his Bronco - price was right..
He figured out why they were so cheap (used) on his first short drive.. and took 'em off and sold 'em to some other sucker when he got back from the run. :D
Worked alright.. but I haven't really heard anything good about 'em yet.

Go with the Goodyear MTR's! You won't be sorry. Great in the rocks, great in mud, pretty quiet on the road. Good luck, Tydes

well here in Iowa the closest thing to rock crawling is driving real slow on a gravel road:D so i mostly see the mud fields and dirt roads. I wish I could afford MTR's! Im also kinda thinking about going with ex-military Hummer radials, runflat, beadlocks, whole shabang. http://usa6x6.com/Military/Images/tires/tire2.jpg

Go with those hummer MT's. You won't be dissapointed. I wouldn't take money to run thornshits on my scout...ok well, if you gave me $500 I'd run them....

Never run them, but know two people (well, actually three) that have... and they hate them.
In each case they got them super cheap, came with the truck, or some other reason, never actualy searched them out and bought them.
They all hate them.
I guess they can be "OK" in the deap mud, they SUCK on the street (AND they are bias ply), slick snotty mud they are horable, and are too hard for rock-crawling. *I* think they have probably the worce tread pattern I've ever seen.
However, I *may* pick-up a set, carve the sh*t out of them with a hot-knife, and use them as race tires..... The side lugs and hard tread may be an advantage there, but only after I open them up alot..
The side lugs are good/good idea, the compond and tread SUCK.
just my thoughs....
CC, the old GY MT's are a great tire. Sipe the center lugs and you will be set..... *personaly*, I'm an MT/R man <g>

HOw much are those GI tires? are they hard to get for 15 inch rims? Siping is when you get your tires cut for extra traction. It makes your tire Brake better and reduce sliding in the rain.

Get a look at em at www.USA6X6.com
I think Daniel has the Bias ply and the Radials for $50 rims for $50 and runflats for $50
