Haven't heard but you can call Dave Rittenhouse himself at Drivetrain Direct - he's the one who told me about them and he's also the Prez of DTD. His direct line is 888-584-4327 ext. 117

Hell, I might just have to call him again myself.

I would like one of these as well, but I have to drive on ice a lot in the winter. So I had an idea, could a person just pull one axleshaft for when you knew you were going to be driving on a lot of ice? I realize this isn't something you would wanna do everyday but its not bad to pull one of these out. Or would it give you really wierd handling on the street? Someone who has broken a FF axle and driven home ought to be able to answer this. Thanks!

Don't see why that wouldn't work. You'd want to either make a plate or cut/machine the shaft off another axleshaft to use the outer part to seal at the hub. Just an idea.

Well, looks like Dave at DTD is on vacation until April 1st. Will try again then.

I tried that just for kicks one day...very bad ideal, at least with my setup. I haven't tried it since I changed to a linked rear suspension, but when I had leafs in the rear is caused horrible 'torque' steer. Everytime I would hit the gas my truck would try to change lanes. It also made it very easy to spin the rear tire, I am running a 460 but it's nothin' special and it would smoke the 38.5 by just stompin' on the gas goin' 20-30 mph

I don't see why it would...

The whole concept of the open diff working better on ice is the differentiating it does...

If you pull one shaft, all the torque is guaranteed to go to that one wheel..

you will get stuck on a wet spot. i did this once 20 years ago trashed a set of spider gears. welded it up solid, trashed that[really didn't know how to weld] so i got smart and just welded the one spider gear to the case and left the other one to spin free. one wheel drive. it doesn't work for shit, it was in a mazda glc, little jap shit box. i would get stuck on dirt roads. i could smoke the tire for about 100 yards, but hell at 16 that was cool.

Yeah it kinda makes sense that it wouldn't work too well after thinking about it. Oh well thats what happens when you have ideas when your half asleep. Thanks
