hi guys,does any buddy know the difference?i can get a 250 used for a fair price but is the 251 that much better.can you up grade the 250 to a 251,if so how much.

the only difference is the 251 use's a digital read out for the IPM's and voltage, i have a 250 and use it in my business for everything from steel erection to cutting edge's, i run duel sheild core wire and spray with it to, jason.

250's imo are junk. I say this because they are the worst MIG welder that Miller has made. It's just not up to their standards. It starts rough, spatters a lot, and I don't like the way it wets out. I'd go with the 251 because I'd never personally own a 250. Fought with more than one of them in my in my short professional career. Just my opinion but I know lots of others feel the same way.

They came out with the MM250X (which I have) pretty soon after introducing the MM250. I'd say that pretty much says something about the problems that they were having and the need for them to upgrade the machine. I'm pretty pleased with the MM250X, but have heard a lot of horrible stories about the MM250.
