Hi there Rover fans!

I snapped a few pics of a 1976 RR repowered with the most common dieselswap engine here in Sweden, the volvo TD40 engine. (3.6L) Sorry I forgot to snap the whole truck. I was testdriving the RR to see what a swapped-in TD40 could do in something carsized and thought I would share.

TD40 Came in these trucks: http://www.volvo.com/trucks/global/en-gb/aboutus/history/1970s/F4_and_F6.htm

I have some more if someone is interested. -Reason i post up in here is that I have plans on using a TD40 or a TD60 (5.9L) in a project truck (Dodge :D ) And wonder if anyone is using a Volvo in there rovers?
The TD40 is common as a boat engine also, and I wonder if anyone know if it has SAE boltpattern? I forgot where, but I think I have seen SAE3 mentioned somewhere.. Any volvo freaks around here? And no, there is hard to get good information about the TD40 even if I live in the country where it's manufactured.

Found some on the marine engines here: http://www.volvo.com/volvopenta/na/en-us/marineengines/outofproductionengines/dieselengine/inboard/

Look for TAMD41, approx the same engine

Looks like a huge motor, and a tight fit.

I like the idea of a straight six but when I did this with a Jag 4.2 in my series I found the front of the engine hung over the axle case and required longer bump stops to prevent the sump being stove in.

A Jag engine? This things have enough trouble running and you go and put a Jag engine in one?!?! :shaking:

Well, it was what I had to hand at the time. Made up my own adapter for the gbox and got the crank bored out to take the rover spigot bush. Looked terrific in the series engine bay with the twin cam covers and shiny SU's but it was just too long to be practicable. Moved the front chassis cross member further forward but it was axle clearance that was the real gotcha in the end :(

I saw an old Jeep with a Cummings 3.9 in it and that made me wonder about one in my Disco.

There's nowt wrong with the jag six, it's the bits they had around them that were the real problem
