Im thinking of moving my Waggy 44 forward on my Wrangler is it best to drill new holes in your springs ,or to drill new holes in the perch to move the axle forward.. Ive heard that it would weaken the springs to put another hole in them.Is it even a big difference if I make a new hole in my spring perch?? I havent started the front yet so It will of course be sprung over if that makes any difference..thanks

Hola. Along the same lines as this thread...I have some waggy springs off an 80 full size. I was considering the shackle reversal but I really didn't want to lengthen the frame to accomodate compression if I use the waggies and do the reversal is that the same as yj springs shifted forward 2 inches? Food for thought. and re-drilling spring steel..bad idea PITA and it weakens the steel

It is easy to get 1" to 1.5" out of the perches and if you go for much more than that you will have to move your steering box I would bet.

not sure of the offset spring perch, although I've heard that between offset drilling the spring perch and drillin the springs you can move a couple of inches that way.
1) This is a good idea with a shackle reversal, because with ARCHED springs the wheel will come back into the tub. With flat springs (ie: SOA) it doesn't seem to come back as much.
2) Watch your steering linkages. If you have stock waggy or YJ pieces on there, then moving the axle forward is all but guaranteed to make them bind at some point in their travel. I'm running cross over now, no probs, but this can be a seriously PITA problem.

My axle is 3.5"+ forward in my YJ. MORE shackle reversal and waggy front springs.
