Well I have a mild 460 camed bored and a few other goodies and i have an eddelbrock carb and intek. But i am now getting into the rocks more so i want to convert to EFI and i have a guy that wants to trade me his new stock EFI on his 460 with verry low miles for my intek and carb

Wacha think??

Also how hard do u think this will be to wire into my truck Wich is an 81 f150 with a 4 speed and 460?

Go ahead and trade him, however you will also need all of his EFI wiring harness, EEC, etc. His EFI intake WILL NOT bolt up to your carbed heads or vice versa. What I would do is order a FRPP Dominator "Victor" intake, M-9424-H429, which will have cast in bungs which can be milled out and used to put injectors in. You will then have to fab up an adaptor plate to mate up the EFI intake tower to the carb mounting pad. The rest should basically be bolting on stuff, although you might have to tune the EEC for the higher flow of the Victor intake (if your flowing enough on the exhaust side for it to matter).

The other option would be to get all of his EFI stuff, and go to autozone and order a set of F3TE Fuelie heads, ($239ea.). Then all of his EFI stuff will bolt up, however you will still need to run different exhaust manifolds or headers from what you have.

Vertical,,would it be worth to trade him heads also i dont want to loose to much power but i want fulie inj.and dont want the bad gasmilage i here about with holley projection, nore do i have lots of money and do the fulie heads flow just as good as mine ?I did nothing to my heads other than reseat the valves they even have the little humps in the exhaust ports.

What year EFI 460 does he have? If its a '93+ then you want the heads, otherwise you are better off to just go to Autozone and pick a pair of them up. The early E7TE fuelie heads aren't great, so go for F3TE's if possible. Either way I'm sure you will gain hp and torque. Stock for stock the EFI motors put out more power than the carb truck 460's.

I put a 670 CFM analog holly projection kit on mine. I got it used on ebay and had less than $500 in the whole conversion and it's the best upgrade I ever did. My engine has more power and never stalls at any angle.

Well i think the fulie 460 is a 91 or 92 would the fulie system work then?

You can take the '91-92 heads, intake, EFI system, etc and bolt it on to your bottom end and it will work. What I stated before was simply refering to the fact that the '93+ EFI heads are of a better design and produce slightly more power.

Correct, the EFI intake will not bolt on to your carb heads.

but isnt he gonna run into problems with his cam, since the damn speed density motors get pissed off, if you run any kind of a decent cam? wouldnt he need to convert to mass air.

or if you are not objectionable to running a chevy part, do a 454 tbi swap, and get a chip burnt for your motor, yes the ford mass air will prolly do better, but if you are looking at this from a price standpoint i would look into the 454 tbi setup.

Ah true, I over looked that. It actually should work fine with the speed density, unless it has a lot of overlap, then the computer will go ape shit. It woul almost be easier to just trade him complete engines....

im running the 275 DEH comp cams camshaft, which is the biggest cam you can run with the stock c-6 torque converter
the numbers on mine are as follows
gross valve lift .515 intake .541 exhaust
duration at .050 219 int. 232 exh
110 degree lobe seperation

i am still runing stock valve springs and havnet run into any problems i believe your cam is gonna be to much for speed density.

if you need a stock ford 460 cam i believe i have a brand new one ic ould maybe sell you.

You can have a custom chip burned for it.

Lets try somethin else how would a motocraft 2 barrell carb work compared to my 750 edelbrock carb for power i was told they were pretty good on the rocks

stx4wheeler460
12-03-2005, 12:50 PM
yes they are prolly in my opinion one ofthe better carbs to run on the rocks, i have run a holley 650, i think a 625, and a motorcraft 4 barrel and now havea motorcraft two barrel and i like it alot, but i will still go efi when i get the cash.

Fordtrucks

Still wondering this if anybody knows also the cost of a new one (any idea)?

Also is there an aftermarket twin to barrell intek i can buy for the 460 so that i can run to 2 barrells for the extra power???

Try a Q-jet instead. Ther is a ton of info on the correct way to rebuid them online, and mine has run flawlessly since I put it together and installed it.

Does anyone have more information on the 454 TBI swap?? I would still be interested in looking in to that.

There's another option for fuel injection for your 460. No ford parts though it's all GM.
