I've got the 20 ton HF frame press and so far have found it very useful for bearings and such, but I'm wondering if I can build/buy any kinds of dies for bending sheetmetal and flatbar etc.

I built a standalone press brake. It would be pretty easy to make similar dies to use on a standard press though. I can bend 24" wide of 3/16's with the 20 ton jack that I used. My Press Brake (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=322868&highlight=press+brake)

take two chunks of like 2" x 1/4" angle iron about 10" long and one chunk of like 6" x 3/4" flat bar ,, turn the angle chunks up side down and you well have a 90* V in the center between them. tack weld them in place ... now take a 4" x 3/4" chuck of flat bar and grind the edge to about a 90* V angle and weld a chunk of pipe that just fits over your ram post to it, I drilled a hole in the side of the pipe to weld a nut onto and use a bolt to hold it onto the ram post ,,,,
Other trick is find a old 1/2" or bigger drill chuck and weld it onto a chuck of pipe. not I use it for holding pin punches for roll pins, letter stamping ETC.

That is a cool idea! A keyless chuck would be perfect for this IMO.
This is why I just love Shop & Tool Talk :D
