I am doing a SAS on my Ranger. I'm using a Ford D44 with radius arms. My question is what is a proper pinion and caster angle? I plan on welding the c-wedges tomorrow so any help would be appreciated. I'm using 6.25* c-bushings if that makes any difference.

Pinion angle should be somewhere between 1 to 3 degrees. Basically if you are eyeballing it the pinion on your diff should not look like a 60 angle where it connects to the drive shaft, nore should it have no angle at all and be a strait shot to the drive shaft. You need a little angle to keep the ujoint roller bearings moving. The angle on the driveshaft should be opposite the angle on the transfer case. Hope this helps.

set your caster between 0 and 7 degrees, and then see where your pinion angle comes out at.

What i did for mine is the diff cover has a flat spot where the drain plug is i put a level on the flat spot and rotated the diff til the level was level Because if that made any sence when done u want the thingy ears that the nuckle bolts to where the balljoints go to be slightly more back on the top ear then the bottom.

If none of that made any sence than let me know and ill try again

I'm assuming 0-7 degrees of positive caster(i.e. like this / not this \) right?

Ya the nuckle must lean to the back just a little so u are wright cuz if not u will get death wobble and horrible steering so yes just lean them back just a little but almost straight up and doun just make sure u do this while the axel is supporting the whole vehicle weight or it wont come out right.

Fordtrucks, thanks for the help. I set it up today with the help of a buddy. I went to the hardware store and got a magnetic protractor. I set the caster at right around 4*. Don't worry everything was set up with the full weight of the truck on the axle. The pinion angle looks good so hopefully it'll ride like I want it to. Should have it back on four wheels in a week or so.

Glad it worked for you.
